Well i'm buggered, a comfortable England win in a quarter final. Early goal made a huge difference, Ukraine had to shift from their back 5 and 3 in midfield and come out more-to be fair there were one or two slightly dodgy moments from Ukraine but never really convinced that they were going to score. They gave away a silly free kick early in the second half and England's aerial power took over from there, rest of the game a total cruise. Shaw mom for me, can't see what Mourinho has got against the bloke. Denmark surely must provide a harder test but England do seem to have a lot of momentum now and with Wembley advantage they must be huge favourites to reach the final. No complacency though......

Absoluteley what we needed to go into the semis at Wembley bring them on. To be fair having watched both matches the Danes will be shitting themselves having to face us at Wembley and for once we are clear favourites for this one.

Great game and great performances from all the players. Looking forward to the semi.

Having seen Daniel Levy's comments post match the fee for Kane has shot right up. I can see him staying at Spurs at this rate.

Played well. Really like Sancho. Defence strong Maguire excellent albeit they were. Shaw stand out player.. If Southgate hadnt changed the team after the 4th could easily have been 6 or more

Too many excellent young players not to blow Denmark away as well

Who do you fancy for tonight? I think Italy will shade it but in this competition who knows? As for tommorrow I don't think the Danes will be a pushover like Ukraine.

I think he'll do well under Nuno Espirito Santo (love that name).

If we do get past Denmark (very big IF) I wouldn't fancy England's chances at all against either of these two.

Didn't see anything that made me think Italy or Spain were world beaters, many chances wasted on both sides and I think they are both beatable. Anyway got the Danes to do first who I think will be the sternest test of the two. Bring them all on.

It will be a very long night tonight. 0-0 AET. Denmark to win on penalties.

I do love the way the sporting media reported the match last night saying how Italy cruised through after Spain were dogged by their lack of goal scoring ability yet Italy took 120 minutes to score one goal and threw away the lead they had. Sure they know how to park the bus and have the odd break but they were very lucky to end the game one all, I think we would have too much firepower for them.
I think tonight's game is the big one, Danes a bit of a dark horse but can still only see England win 3 0 Sterling, Kane and Saka.

Anyway, England deserved to win on the night, Kane was superb as a line leader and Schmeichel was by far the busier of the two keepers. Not sure about the advisibility of replacing Grealish with another defender when England were totally on top and subsequently inviting pressure for the final 15 minutes but it worked i suppose. Slightly 50/50 penalty and lucky that the rebound fell to Kane but England have had enough shit in big matches over the years [thought the free kick for their goal was dodgy as well] to not give a rats arse and accept a good break. First one for 55 years, no matter what anyone thinks about Southgate,it can't be denied that in terms of results he's the most successful since Ramsey so well done to him and the England squad and it should be a great occasion on Sunday.

I hate football on ITV. I never thought they could make it any worse but they have managed it by having emma hayes commenting. She makes Sly Stallone sound eloquent.
