TORQUAY UNITED: Three directors quit the club just days before the start of the new season


TORQUAY United directors Chris Boyce, Mark Boyce and Alex Rowe have stepped down just days before the start of the new football season.

The trio, who were all key players in the buy-out of the club seven years ago when Torquay were first relegated to the Conference, released a statement this morning to announce their departure in a bid to encourage new blood to the United boardroom.

The stamement read: "‘After seven years of directorship at United we confirm our resignation from the board of Torquay United and Plainmoor Limited. We feel that now is the right time to step aside and clear the decks to make way for new blood.

"We have been very privileged to have been involved with the club at board room level but now is the time to pass the baton on to others with fresh investment, energy and new ideas.

"We have created strong friendships with our fellow directors and will continue to fully support the club and the Bristow family. We will maintain levels of sponsorship wherever possible and remain season ticket holders. We look forward to cheering Chris Hargreaves and the team on."

Bristol City are another club that effortly skipped past us in the last decade. They've ambition and will do well.

They have had a sugar daddy true enough but were not far short of sliding into the 4th division at times last season, Crawley and Yeovil are far better examples of clubs that make you look like a basket case.

Thats Crawley who were in the Southern League 10 years ago current average 3000 and you're saying they are a good comparison for us. Ok then.

We've yoyoed around B city for most of my life Tis, similar sized club up until recent times, Brent downsizing us was joyous to behold for you Greeks but we haven't always been like this.
