1-0 to England. Italy have got some seriously restrictive injuries and Sterling coming off the bench late on against their slow defence could be the difference.

The team selection will certainly be interesting.

I suspect Hodgson will probably plump for Welbeck ahead of Sterling though I'd love to see Sterling Rooney Lallana, and Sturridge as the front 4.

Biggest problem is the energy draining humidity. Italy's natural game is slow and methodical so they don't have to adapt a great deal. Ours is based around pressing the oppo, strength and pace. I'd almost play for a 0-0 for an hour before throwing Sterling and Barkley on to run their guts out for 30 minutes.

Sterling starting is a brave move. Buffon is out - a big bonus.
