i'll have a go. never played in my life, is that whats meant by handicap? closest ive come to golf, was at brizzle city, when their 'supporters' fired golf balls across that park before a cup game in the eighties

It was a really bad Viking Fancy dress party that day as you all turned out in "we support a crap football team" outfits by mistake.

I was onboard a double-decker bus the police herded us into from the train station, there were loads of them waiting, and it came under fire from full berr cans, rocks and bricks and golf balls. They also tried to push it over and I was absolutely crapping myself The police still wouldn't open the dors to let us out so someone opened up the back fire escape and then it was bedlam, rushed out onto the street in the middle of a full blown riot.

I broke my ankle at the replay too, jumping up when we scored, and then we played Arsenal at Highbury and lost 6-1 to one of the best teams I have ever seen. Packed full of Internationals, they ripped us to shreds but was amazing to watch and the atmosphere in the away end was electric.

We now have Aldershot at home to look forward to

A handicap is the number of shots a player gets against the par score for the course.Simple equation-if the par score [ie,the number of shots that shuld be taken to play the 18 holes] is 72,then a player with a 28 handicap should go around the course in 100 shots.The system is to ensure that really good players don't monopolise the winning of prizes at clubs and to make things more even and interesting.Professional golfers are so good that they don't have handicaps and indeed would have to give shots to the course.Plympton Pilgrim is a 14 handicapper and i'm a 13 handicapper but i certainly didn't play like one yesterday on the last few holes and my pairing was deservedly beaten by him and his partner,by 2 and 1.Would be good to get a bit of a golf day together,how many more would be keen?

I think you'll find that "older maid on the right" is Andy. The young woman in front of him Is peggy.

Actually I think it was wise to deflect attention from hairy's faux pas. I'm not sure what Peggy would object to most ' 'older', 'maid' or 'on the right'

I would be interested in a round of golf. I have no classified handicap but play alot home and abroad...would be a 22
