Lowe revealed he has had ‘loads of people’ offering him loan players this summer.

But the Pilgrims’ boss would rather he and his coaching staff work with and develop their own young talent.

It is a significant shift in approach from Argyle as they continue to put an increasing focus on their academy.

The Pilgrims have relied heavily on young loan signings in the recent past, not just under Lowe but also his predecessor Derek Adams.

Part of that has been through economic necessity, with loans providing the opportunity to strengthen the squad but not at a high cost
