WILL THE EASTER BUNNY KEEP THE ARGYLE FANS HAPPY THIS EASTER MONDAY

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

The man in the middle

Bobby Madley,
The  former Premier League official  has issued 84 yellow cards and four reds in 27 games. Madley was sacked by Professional Game Match Officials Limited in 2018 and is now making a comeback in League One and Two and was the man in the middle for Argyle's 2-0 away win against Swindon Town in January.

He will be assisted by
Peter Gooch and Andrew Dallison

The fourth official is
Chris Husband.

Argyle News

Having secured a crucial Good Friday victory, Argyle travel to Shrewsbury Town on Easter Monday on a three-game unbeaten run.

Ryan Lowe’s men put in a dominant first-half display against Wimbledon. We have scored within 15 minutes of kick-off in each of their last three games, but he said we must improve our second half display and hold on to the ball more.
.
Shrewsbury currently lie in 17th position in the League, having lost their last two.

In our reverse league at Home Park way back in September, the sides played out a 1-1 draw, with both goals coming in the first half. Josh Vela put the Shrews ahead in the 14th minute with a strike from the edge of the area, before Conor Grant levelled the score line with an angled finish from just outside the box.

George Cooper is the Pilgrims’ only long-term absentee, and is currently undergoing a rehabilitation programme at Home Park after knee surgery, while Gary Sawyer is edging closer to full fitness.

Fulham loanee Jerome Opoku has served his two-match ban for accumulating 10 yellow cards, and will be eligible for selection. No news on Woods injury.

Shrewsbury Town

Shrewsbury Town are aiming to avoid three straight defeats when Plymouth Argyle make the long trip to Shropshire on Easter Monday.

Town were completely off the pace against Northampton as they registered just one shot on target – a long distance effort from Harry Chapman that was meat and drink for Jonathan Mitchell. This, coupled with a recent 2-1 loss against Portsmouth, meant that Shrewsbury suffered back-to-back league defeats for the first time since October.

Shrewsbury will hope to avoid the record of three in a row, when they welcome an inconsistent Plymouth side. Town received a double dose of positive news when Aaron Pierre (calf) and Donald Love (groin) returned to action after weeks on the treatment table. The duo played the full ninety seemingly without suffering any issues.
However, there is no further update on the fitness of Brad Walker (groin) and Josh Daniels (knock). But Nigerian striker Dan Udoh could be included in the squad – he was not included on Good Friday as he partner went into labour.

Shrewsbury could ring the changes once more after making five on Friday – Shaun Whalley, Sean Goss, and Matthew Pennington will be eyeing recalls. Town’s last home win against the Pilgrims arrived in November 2018 – Greg Docherty and Fejiri Okenabirhie netted during a 2-0 success. That was Shrewsbury’s only win in the past nine occasions these sides have met.

Ryan Lowe returns to Shrewsbury as the boss of the visitors. He began his league career with Town and scored 37 times in almost 200 appearances.

Not even Jesus could save the Shrews from the green tidal wave sweeping the country, it'll go down in the annals of history along side the likes of 'the battle of saltergate', 'the thriller in Manila', 'the great emancipation(Brexit)' and 'Rourkes drift' ..... let 'the crucifixion at Gay Meadow' commence.

Only went to Gay Meadow once,in Sturrocks record breaking season and Argyle turned in the most dismal performnce of the season-Shrewsbury finished at the butt end of nowhere but did the double over Argyle. Against that sort of history little hope can be seen of a decent result today.

Win today and safety is pretty much assured even with very tough unwinnable games against promotion chasing sides coming up. But like AFCW on Friday, Shrewsbury will completely outplay piss poor Argo particularly after the break. They'll have a bit too much for us.

Shrews 2-0 Argo

And that was our good half. Doesn't really seem possible to play even worse in the next 45 but if anything can do it, it'll be one of Lowe's magical half time talks.
