The real story of Tory policy, which the press do their best not to highlight, is their continued cutting of Corporation Tax.
They've cut Corporation Tax by 32% (from 28% to 19%) since coming to power.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

That's a hell of a lot of lost revenue. The IFS estimate it costs the Treasury over 10bn a year!
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

The 'austerity' program, which is labelled as being necessary to reduce the national debt, is actually required to fund this massive tax cut to corporations. Indeed the national debt has increased from 1bn to 1.7bn in the time the Tories have been in power.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Meanwhile the Royal Family have got a 38% pay increase via the 'Sovereign Grant' since 2012.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

They've splashed 16m on an ineffective badger cull, at a cost of over £6k per dead badger.

Overspent by over a Billion on their divisive Academies programme
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

But hey, never mind all that. Never mind that Theresa May was warned by the Police federation that budget cuts were a threat to counter terrorism policing (she later accused the Federation of 'scaremongering'). Just keep worrying about stuff Jeremy Corbyn might/might not have said 30 years ago.

[quote="VillageGreen"]I hope Corbyn and Abbott are not elected to become number one and number two on Thursday. Some say Corbyn is a friend of the terrorist, while some say Abbot is so anti-British, it is cringeworthy. I know May has had her problems regarding police numbers and cuts, but Corbyn should not be using all that as a political point scoring method, especially after three jihadi extremist terror attacks on British soil in recent months.

What happened in London at the weekend was horrific and heinous and I am glad the police shot dead the jihadi f...wits in rapid time. Sadly, there will be more jihadi idiots who will want to cause death and destruction in the future, where and when is unknown to us all. That is really scary and highly worrying.  For Corbyn to be calling for May to resign is a pointless ask.

If he was to become PM, how will he treat those with jihadi extremism in their minds and living in the various cities and towns nationwide. Then you have those returning from the battle fields of Libya, Syria and elsewhere in the world, what would he do about them ?.

What is anyone doing ? The elephant in the room is the Tories selling weapons to Saudi Arabia, who in turn aid IS and promote the vile form of Islam they follow. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

I do chuckle sometimes when I see the same old fibs and propaganda repeated time and time again.
........ "tax free allowance  £11500 " Really ? LOL. Since when were National insurance contributions abolished ?   I must have missed that one.

The EU must be hoping that Theresa May loses the election....and that they have to deal with some other leader....who not only has to sort out a new government and chose a brexit negotiator....but has to come up with all the answers for us leaving the United States of the EU in less than 11 days, when negotiations start.

With that in mind whatever people think of Theresa May...how can voters allow us to end up being fodder for a Federal inclined EU.....so May needs to win.....even if she plans to take my home away to cover my dementia payments....not in my life time of course ..but from my childrens inheritance....plus my winter fuel allowance as well.

Cameron has a lot to answer for...wherever he is making his £millions on yet another round of speech dates....while Osborne churns out print in his new job....ripping the government apart.

Fact is always stranger than fiction.

What makes you think Theresa May is going to be good at negotiations? Despite having the advantage of being the one calling the election, her campaign has been an absolute car crash. She's been running away from a debate from Jeremy Corbyn, what good is she going to be against a bunch of EU negotiators?

Also worth remembering that she was pro-EU during the Brexit campaign. She was then given basically a free run of the leadership competition, after the anti-EU contenders (Johnson, Gove etc) all mysteriously faded from view. Once in power she suddenly decided that she was pro-Brexit. I wonder if she'll have another Brexit U-Turn once she's got her 5 year term on the back of Brexit voters believing her to be 'strong and stable' (keep repeating the mantra!).

She has had David Davis heading her brexit team for months....so there is some organization towards negotiating.

Jeremy Corbyn has a team of losers....remember most of the experienced Labour MP's are sitting on the back benches not wanting anything to do with him....so if he becomes PM.....he has got 11 days to put together a government (coalition ?) and find a chief brexit negotiator who can count beyond there fingers and toes.....his coalition government will be full of SNP & Lib/Dems who don't want to leave the United States of Europe anyway....total chaos....the EU will be jumping up and down with glee.....I won't vote for her....but  there is no alternative for this country just before negotiations start.

Anyone remember the mess May made of the Passport Office when she was Home Secretary. The press have been more interested in something Jeremy Corbyn did/did not say 30 years ago, but not interested in what May was actually doing 3 years ago! [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Her ability to lower immigration over 7 years to 100,000 per annum....is a disaster they're coming in annually with enough people to plant a City the size of Hull each year....Diane Abbott would be slightly out of her depth and she is one of his chief lieutenants.....where is Nigel Farage when you need him.... confused

I see Diane Abbott won't be campaigning anymore, as apparently she's "ill", that explains her memory loss then ! lol

Now according to others, all ATDers are supposed to be empty headed nut jobs but I'm sure that's not really the case, I think we're all aware of the above details,
but for once I agree with a Freathy post Sulk on the previous page, we've never been so bereft of inspirational leadership from a politician as we are now and it looks like it'll be a vote for the lesser of all evils.
As a disaffected labour voter who has never voted Tory and never will, I'm as confused as I've ever been, so it looks like a protest vote from me

Oh dear, not heard of inflation? Inflation of 2% a year gets means you have to have a 15% increase just to stand still. Then you have to take into account population growth across the period (probably about 6% between 2010 and 2017). Most of those 'increases' are decreases in real terms.

Also a very selective use of data - 2010 was the year the banks were being bailed out and 'quantitative easing' was being introduced/expanded. Prior to the bail out the deficit was lower than it is now. Of course 'scroungers' are to blame for the deficit, not the banks that required massive bail outs.

The current director of BBC News is James Harding, a former editor of The Times. So if there's any BBC bias, it's in the right wing direction (actually the BBC tend to favour whoever is in government at the time, as it is they hold the purse string for the BBC. It was the same under Blair).

I cant say I have noticed BBC's Kuenssberg as particularly fond of Corby, in fact far from it. The little I have seen, the latest establishment privately educated correspondent has just piled in with the rest of the mass traditional media.
I had the great misfortune of spending quite a lot of charidee time abroad in the past with the BBC head economics correspondent of the time. About as left wing as Stanley Mathews. Still, it suits the same old narrative that the BBC is a bunch of trots, along with the same old bull of a labour party would never defend these islands nonsense.
I'm not even a real fan of Westminster at all with it's rotten borough system and plethora of lobby owned members, but for the first time ever I am tactically voting and switching my Green vote to Corbyn. He deserves my vote purely for making socialism an acceptable word again in this country. A long road, and a bit too late a surge, but as Saunders has said in America, the momentum is only going one way, and grass root revolution takes decades. We all know the anger that's out there. Corbyn can be proud of the way he has put forward the policies he believes in.

Gordon Browns increase in the taxation of pension funds has discouraged personal saving and created pension mayhem, that did it for me after being a labour voter all my voting life.

Very interesting the flagship policies that have done for people. With Blair it was Iraq, Clegg his tuition fees disgrace, and now May with her intended stealing of working class pensioner houses and the only helping hand their children will get.
And who can forget ERM black monday, or was it tuesday ?.......... so much for the Tory economic fable.

It seems there's more believers in Utopia than ever before.
May has brought this on herself with a useless manifesto but Corbyn is away with the fairies with his.
The pound will plummet along with the stock market, inflation and interest rates will soar in the next five years.
How the hell can Marx still be an influence after 150 years. It's an idealogy, that's all.
Corbyn's stunt, a few months back, of walking past train seats and plonking himself on the floor shows his dishonesty.
There's a part of me that hopes he wins. He, and his two cronies, will then finally bury the myth of socialism.

Labour knocked on my door yesterday (there were s...loads of them on the door to door thing) and asked if they could count on my vote. I said that I normally vote for Labour, but not this time though as I will abstain. The Labour chap said "don't you like our policies", I replied that I don't like or trust Corbyn. I went on to say he is too left-wing and will ruin the country. The Labour chap got well narked with that and went to the house next door.
