BBC News 24 currently reporting Andrea Leadsom is about to announce her resignation from the leadership contest.

If this happens Teresa May will become PM without there actually being a final ballot to elect her at all.

Leadsom to make some sort of an announcement at noon.

"We want our democracy back" sounding ever more hollow with every passing moment.

"We want our country back" shorely?

Doesn't matter what they actually said, does it?

Firstly they've all backed out of everything anybody ever said in one way or another and secondly they've all quit anyhow.

Devastation and smouldering ruin everywhere you look.

The most Pyrrhic of victories in the history of British politics? Looks like it to me.

In other news Angela Eagle starts her campaign to be Labour leader but I don't think anybody cares very much about that.

In other news: Angela Eagle's own Constituency Labour Party table a "No Confidence" motion in her. Apparently it is likely to pass.

Graham Brady, chair of Tory 1922 committee, is due to make a statement at 12:30.

Presumably to declare May the winner and to indicate when she takes over from Cameron?

But who knows aything anymore?

The establishment & MSM sniping & bullying got to Leadsom by the seems of it.

Of the parliamentary conservative party she had half the support of May. But The mood in this country at the moment seems to be about trying to stick it to the establishment, hence Gove coming out with that "people have had enough of experts" quote. The reality seems more biting its nose to spite its face so The 150,000 Tory members might well have voted Leadsom in fearing an establishment stitch up. That's a junior minister with only 5 years experience as an MP who had just behaved with staggering naiviety with a Times journalist. So yet another one gets knifed, which is what labour should have done to Corbyn.

If she is declared new leader would that mean art 50 would initiated straight away? I think she said previously it wouldnt happen this year but this obviously changes everything.

Article 50 cannot be activated without a vote to pass an act in Parliament.

It is not the prerogative of the PM alone.
