| The Herald's story about the trip to Hartlepool and back is just a human interest story about nothing much in particular and as such isn't hurting anybody.
Even for ATD some of the comments about some of the people on that coach are distasteful and in one or two cases insulting.
Some of the people on that coach think no more of Brent than some of you do. They wouldn't know some of the directors box seeking fans if they were stood in front of them. Some have no interest and indeed no idea what has been happening off the pitch. I know for a fact a few don't even own a computer. They are fans who have been going to Argyle away matches for donkeys years no matter who the owner is or isn't. They will probably be still going long after Brent's gone.
Whether they need their bumps feeling for going all the way to Hartlepool and back in one day is another matter but they don't deserve abuse. |

Bash the board by all means (Hey, I'll join in!), but personal insults that would be considered childish in the playground made anonymously against fellow fans are out of order. |

| I have to agree as well, in my mind there are fair targets in Argyle land, these people have taken a public role at Argyle and have their heads above the parapet so to speak. Calling a couple of older fans "care in the community" is more than a bit much in my mind. |

Whether they need their bumps feeling for going all the way to Hartlepool and back in one day is another matter but they don't deserve abuse. Agree with this. Some of the stuff in this thread did make me cringe in all honesty and is not really the type of comment that will give any credibility to ATD in getting across the opinions that most posters on here share about the general state of play at Argyle. The team talk idea? Load of crap, nothing wrong with saying that. But extreme mocking of people who follow a rather eccentric but essentially harmless pastime in the style of morris dancing, trainspotting etc sure isn't the way to win friends and influence people. Not one of the site's finest hours IMHO. |

I'm not offended by anything. I've been around here far too long to be offended by anything. The team talk letter was a load of tosh and I've no problem with anybody saying so but I did think some of the comments about the Herald's trip to Hartlepool were over the top and needless. |

If they bothered doing a story on a 45 mile coach trip, the Herald would deserve as much piss taking as their flying wheelie bin story got. |

You cannot bring booze onto the buses any more and the 'craik' of attending away games has long since gone. No fun anymore. The last remaining bit of atmosphere at HP was sucked out when they closed Zoo Corner and turned it into a family area, ill wager lot's of those who originally sat in that area no longer attend and who can blame them. The whole 'lads day out concept of going to football' seems to be lost in time in this day and age, more-so at Argyle. All due respect to those that travel but those images on GOS are hardly going to get people scrambling to get to the supporters coaches even if the product on the pitch was half decent. I think I mentioned on another thread somewhere that at the home or away games that I have been to this season, and the last few before that is that it's exclusively (and again all due respect) either old people or kids and teenagers that make up the majority of our support. The whole 20-50 age bracket seems to be entirely missing at PAFC which I find is less of a case to when I visit other club's grounds, and believe you me I've been to most of them in England including some non-league. Instead of berating people for their observations perhaps the club and others on here should be asking themselves why the club is missing an entire generation of working class adult males who were once the mainstay of the club's support. |

No REAL fan over 30 would ask such question Dead now I believe but he'd be at pretty much every game regardless of his disabilities, a true fan even if he was a figure of fun in a lighthearted way to some sections of the support, if you don't remember Noddy you must be under 30 or a relative newcomer to Argyle. |

Instead of berating people for their observations perhaps the club and others on here should be asking themselves why the club is missing an entire generation of working class adult males who were once the mainstay of the club's support. Oddly enough I was reading today about Cambridge and how they plan to spend their money garnered from the United match-as an aside, the article touched on the subject of the age profile of supporters in the lower divisions-Cambridge have exactly the same problem as Argyle and it would seem to be fairly common throughout the lower leagues, with most kids following their chosen premier club rather than their local one. I don't disagree about the missing craic, buzz, whatever you may call it but the travel club was running trips even when that era was at its zenith, so it hardly seems fair to in some way to connect the current supporters to the lack of passion felt for Argyle by younger people. [As a matter of fact, i don't know what the hell kids do with themselves at weekends these days, because the participation in a lot of sports has declined recently, to a serious degree in the cases of cricket [64000 players lost in the last two years], golf [150000 members lost in the last ten years, Wrangaton GC in liquidation, Lostwithiel GC closed recently] and rugby].But i'm fairly convinced that a successful Argyle on the pitch would soon start attracting fans of all ages again in spite of the competition from the premier league-whether or not they stick with the club would depend entirely on how well any momentum gained was built upon, as was well demonstrated in our last surge up the leagues, followed by the catastrophic collapse, the results of which are there for all to see in many different ways. |
