Because the membership would probably  elect Genghis Khan given the chance....

The trouble with Mordaunt is that she's a bit of a  "None of the above" option and was pretty mediocre in front of the cameras when given a chance. The pretty spiteful briefing campaign didn't help but as you say she was always going to be nobbled near the end one way or the other.

Most of Badenochs supporters will revert to Sunak as there has already been a backroom deal there, although enough will vote for Truss to see off Mordaunt.

Hard to second guess what the membership will decide, I hope its Truss because of the bants

My point was that this whole rigmarole with the Mps was pretty pointless really. Personally I would prefer Truss or Mordant because they aren't Sunak, he's a horrible oily backstabber with a fooking awful track record and is so out of touch with the common man he might as well be a Martian. Truss or Mordant will obviously turn into Thatcher in no time but I am hoping both of them are as sick of the toxic politics as we are, it seems Sunak isn't at all concerned about that but I guess that's how he is where he is now?
As for the membership they would only elect Genghis Khan if he were to quadruple lock their pensions and cut VAT on blue rinse, they really are that shallow.

The Daily Mirror's Kevin Maguire says the contest is "made in heaven" for Labour. He describes Ms Truss as "a vacuous chancer who would be out of her depth in a puddle" and Mr Sunak as "the moneybags chancellor who hiked taxes to 1940s levels, while his family avoided their fair share".

Spot on as well. Truss let it be remembered campaigned very hard for Remain because she bet on George Osborne being the next leader. Its beleived she has taken elocution lessons so her voice sounds shrill but instead she sounds like a robot as she tries to remember what register she is supposed to be speaking in. She is hopeless and as a few people have pointed out demented.

Sunak is probably slightly the better bet as he has some grip on reality. However he is also a complete lightweight as his many instafram posts of him taking his jacket off prove
