Higher Home Park Works To Begin (TV SCREEN COMING) Empty
PostSubject: Higher Home Park Works To Begin (TV SCREEN COMING)   Higher Home Park Works To Begin (TV SCREEN COMING) EmptySat May 07, 2022 11:35 am

The next stage in the club's stadium improvement project begins next week, with substantial works taking place to redevelop the club car park and associated facilities adjacent to the Mayflower Grandstand.

Higher Home Park - the section of land reacquired by the club in 2019 which stretches alongside the Mayflower Grandstand to the Home Park Ticket Office - will be levelled and resurfaced in order to provide nearly double the amount of parking spaces for players, staff, and match-day officials, as well as reducing pressure on the Park and Ride car park used for supporters. In addition, the works will see the installation of 10 electric vehicle charging points, and significant improvement to the look and feel of the entire approach to the stadium from the Central Park direction.

The project, awarded to contractor Ryearch, will begin on Tuesday, 10 May, and is scheduled for completion before the first competitive game of the 22/23 EFL campaign at Home Park.

Additional infrastructure improvements in the area include the installation of a bin store, bicycle store, new lighting, enhanced CCTV, and hostile vehicle barriers in areas of high footfall – including the Home Park Ticket Office and Argyle Superstore.

Meanwhile, a whole host of aesthetic changes will also be introduced, including the installation of new trees, planters and other soft landscaping enhancements. In addition, large club-branded hoardings will also be erected around the land adjacent to the Life Centre which is not owned by Argyle.

For vehicles, the repurposed space will offer an increase in the number of disabled and motorcycle parking bays, as well as clearer designation of a cycle path alongside the Home Park footprint.

For the du  ration of the works, access to this area will be prohibited, although exceptions stand for events use at either the Green Taverners Suite or within Club Argyle. In each case, event organisers will make contact with guests ahead of time to organise access. Supporters will be able to access all club facilities, including the main Club Reception within the Mayflower Grandstand, the Home Park Ticket Office, and the Argyle Superstore, as usual.

Argyle Head of Venue, Christian Kent, said: “This is a really exciting opportunity for us to vastly enhance the public realm outside of the stadium, and it will really help elevate the way Home Park looks and feels on the upper side of Home Park.

“For a long while, work like this has been considered a ‘nice to have’, but the club management and Board of Directors appreciate the value of enhancing all areas of the stadium – inside and outside – to maximise the supporter and guest experience, and we are very excited to be moving forward.”

Mark Wildman, Managing Director of Ryearch, said: “Ryearch is delighted to be awarded this important infrastructure project for Argyle, and be an integral part of regenerating Home Park.  As a leading regional contractor, this regeneration of one of Plymouth's landmark sites represents an exciting opportunity for Ryearch and we are proud to be involved with it; not least because our own team includes many Argyle fans!”

The car park work follows the beginning of a seat replacement project, delayed until the summer due to supply issues, as well as the installation of energy-saving LED lighting throughout the stadium.

The stadium improvement project will not be limited to developments outside the stadium this off-season, though, and the club encourages supporters to keep their eyes peeled for a giant, high-definition announcement to follow next week.

So nothing of worth will be built in the carpark after all..

gone from a clusterfuck mark 1 and 2 to an eco friendly safe space. How is this going to affect the non existent redevelopment of the pavilions if the ice rink still wont get built by the reluctant one.

I'd rather the grandstand was extended to cure my OCD. As for the ' High-definition' announcement, it'll be nice to see the ipad mini being replaced with an iPad Pro. We're getting there!

Sounds like a step backwards to the Brent days and his "enhanced match day experience" catchphrase.

A few more parking spaces a few trees and everyone will enjoy going to the match a lot more.

The reality is that we can put up with a scruffy car park etc. as long as we win the match. A few planters , or even a feck me big TV won't get us any more points.

We are delighted to announce that a giant digital screen will be installed at Home Park during the close season.

Following an exhaustive research process, the club has invested in a Bendac infiLED screen to be installed at the back of Block 17, in the Lyndhurst Road Stand and Barn Park End corner.

Subject to overseas shipping, the screen - which comes in at an impressive 45 square metres - will be installed at Home Park in mid-July.

The supplier, Bendac, was chosen as a result of their expertise in this field, with high-profile locations of current infiLED screens including Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge.

The screen will add an extra layer of excitement to match-days and other stadium events at Home Park, possessing the ability to sync up with pitch-side entertainment, pre-match Argyle TV programming, and live match action, including replays.

The screen also provides significant opportunities for the club’s commercial department to bring sponsorship and advertisements to life on the digital screen.

Argyle’s Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Parkinson, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be able to move forward with the big screen over the close season.

“We know from discussions with supporters and expressions of interest at Fans’ Forums that Home Park has been lacking in a digital scoreboard, but we also felt that we needed to take time to assess all options available to us and make the best long-term decision for Argyle. I am confident that we have done that, and the Green Army will be pleased with the result.

“A lot of effort has been placed in enhancing the match-day experience, encouraging supporters to get to the stadium earlier, and making Argyle a day out for the whole family. The big screen is another important step forward in that project.”

The screen represents a sizeable, six-figure outlay for the club, but the plan is that, through enhancing existing commercial partnerships, unlocking new avenues of digital advertisement, and elevating the entire stadium experience at Argyle, the screen will have made a return in a few short seasons, generating steady profits thereafter.

As part of the research, the club considered a number of potential locations for the big screen, and appointed an LED consultant to support us through the procurement process.

As part of that process, hanging screens from the Devonport End and Barn Park End were eliminated from consideration as the horseshoe roof is unsuitable, while the currently unfurnished corner between the Devonport End and the Mayflower Grandstand was also ruled out due to a combination of installation cost and poor visibility – as 25% of a capacity crowd would have had either an obscured or extremely poor viewing angle of the screen.

Locations in the Devonport End and Barn Park End were also considered, but opted against due to the combination of seat loss in those areas, and line of sight issues for supporters.

The Block 17 location ensures that no season ticket holders are displaced, seating loss is kept to a minimum, and just under 99% of a capacity crowd will have a clear view of the screen from their seats.

Weather conditions have also been considered. For a 3pm kick-off in the winter months, Block 17 receives direct sunlight in the early afternoon, which is why the Board of Directors also signed-off the additional cost of raising the brightness level of the screen to 8,000 nits, which will ensure that the screen can be viewed extremely clearly in any season. For reference, the average smartphone registers around 500 nits, a high-definition television 2,000 nits, and large digital advertising boards, like the iconic lights at Piccadilly Circus, are rated in the region of 5,000.

The big screen installation joins a busy schedule of works at Home Park, with Higher Home Park also receiving a makeover to improve the public realm on the upper side of the stadium and increase the parking available on site.

Argyle’s Head of Venue, Christian Kent, said: “The big screen is a vital development in our work to make Home Park as attractive a venue as possible – for Argyle fans, events use, and other visitors.

“It is a really exciting time with so much work going on behind the scenes to realise the potential of the stadium, and we cannot wait to see how it all comes together next season.”

If you are interested in utilising the power of Argyle’s new big screen to promote your brand or business, get in touch with the commercial team at Home Park on [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], or by calling 01752 302204.

What a bad placee to put it.

This. All day long.

You have a bomb site area where having a screen impacts zero seating capacity. Awful decision.

At this rate we will have the smartest ground, directors car park and big screen in league 2.

Yep the dark side has welcomed me with open arms. Seriously though I cannot see how we are going to do all this and strengthen the team let alone replace what we will lose unless Si is going to chuck in another couple of million and I'm sure he ruled that out? I'm not sure whether Si is getting the club ready for sale?
