Match News
Argyle on the road again, this time there will be 3,000 of the green army there.
While Plymouth Argyle hold 1st position currently, Charlton Athletic rank 17th, they have move up the league since changing their manager. Johnnie Jackson, he has three wins, one draw and one defeat since he took over.
It is rumour that before the game he will be made the full-time manager
There was good news on Tuesday when George Cooper and Danny Mayor were on the bench now striker Niall Ennis is finally closing in on a return to action after missing the first three months of this season, he was set to return to full training on Thursday.
Charlton Athletic caretaker manager Johnnie Jackson is looking forward to pitting his wits against Plymouth’s Ryan Lowe on Saturday afternoon.
The pair were on the same course for their UEFA A and Pro licences.
Asked if it was a surprise to see Plymouth as early pacesetters, Jackson told the South London Press: “Maybe at the start, but I’ve watched a lot of them now and they are a very good side. They deserve to be where they are.
“I know the manager really well. He is a good, bright young coach and they play in a similar way to how we do. They have a lot of energy in their team and press really well. They’ve got two lads up front with good movement and who score goals. They cause a lot of problems. They get the ball to the midfield players and try to play as well.
They score a lot of goals as well and they’ll be coming to us really fancying it. They are flying high – but so are we. It will be an exciting game, two teams going for the win.
I got to know Ryan really well on those courses and we have kept in constant touch since we met. We’ve always been competing against each other in the same league. He was coaching and then managing. Now I’m in charge at the moment. Our journey has been similar but he’s a little bit ahead, he just had his 100th game [as a boss in the 4-1 win at Accrington].

Garrick will be starting I'm certain likewise. Once Ennis is fit Jepchott will be even further down the pecking order He adds very little to the overall team. He's no Tommy Tynan

Fans who can't make it to The Valley on Saturday can watch all of the build-up to the Addicks' game against Plymouth Argyle live on the club's YouTube channel.
With fans having returned to stadiums, the club are no longer permitted to live stream Saturday-3pm matches in the UK or Ireland due to EFL broadcast regulations.
However, as CharltonTV’s live productions proved so popular last season, the club remain committed to making the pre-game content accessible for all fans. Therefore, the build-up to all league games will be available for fans to watch for free on YouTube throughout the 2021/22 season.
Saturday's pre-game programme - which will see Alan Curbishley and Paul Walsh join Scott Minto in the CharltonTV studio, presented by DNEL Ltd - starts at 2.15pm GMT and fans based in the UK and Ireland can watch on YouTube up until five minutes before kick-off.
The club are not permitted to show Saturday’s build-up to fans in the UK & Ireland on [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] or the CharltonTV app as, due to EFL broadcast rules, CharltonTV must be set up to only allow overseas fans to access.
Fans in the UK & Ireland who want to watch Saturday’s build up must use the club’s YouTube channel.
Who can watch the game live on CharltonTV?

Tough game, we need to play with more authority and control than last week.

They really don't get any easier. Another VERY VERY tough one against a resurgent Charlton fresh from their annihilation of a very good Burton side last Saturday. We're going to have to be at least 200% better than we have been all season to get anything at all from this one. The Addicks have won two home games this season including THAT 4-0 hammering of Doncaster. I would normally predict an Argo defeat here but in the spirit of this weird new normal of Argo not being ultra shite and losing every week - I better go for a VERY hard fought draw.
Glad I'm not going.

Supporters will be able to choose from a variety of different cuisines for their matchday food at Saturday’s [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] game against Plymouth Argyle.
With more than 25,500 expected in SE7 this weekend, supporters are encouraged to arrive early at The Valley.
The mouth-watering food options include a local company serving Jamaican chicken, a fish and chips van, a Columbian arepas van, as well as more traditional football food, including Gather & Gather’s excellent steak and ale pies.
In addition, the popular introduction of real ale in the Fans’ Bar, will continue, with Doom Bar the guest ale for Saturday’s game.
There will be plenty going on in the Fans’ Bar, which opens at 12pm. Jam Paradise will be serving jerk chicken, jerk pork or Jamaican ackee along with some delicious sides. Supporters will be able to watch Leicester City v Chelsea (12.30pm) and Liverpool v Arsenal (5.30pm), as well as CharltonTV’s pre-game show from 2.15pm and the CharltonTV post-game show with former Addicks forward Paul Walsh starring alongside Alan Curbishley and host Scott Minto in the CharltonTV studio, presented by DNEL Ltd.
As part of the new processes in place, supporters in the Covered End can also pre-order drinks for half-time in the Fans’ Bar. To do this supporters can pre-order before the game kicks off in the Fans’ Bar, where they will be given a receipt to collect their drinks at half time to allow for speedier service.
Supporters looking to enjoy the Fans’ Bar are advised to arrive early, to avoid missing out.
Elsewhere catering vans in the West car park will be serving fish and chips and Colombian arepas. In addition Lush Burgers will be situated in the East Stand.

Sorry... Is it going to be easy or tough?
Top of the league, but we need to be 200% better?
..and you're glad your not going?
A bit of explanation is needed.. Apart from you not going - that's a given.

Excellent news TG It really is a dominant strip and the best since the colours of the late 1960's White shirt with the Green hoop around the middle

A few years ago not much would have kept me away from this one-top of the league against a resurgent team in front of a full house at the Valley is pretty appetising for a vast majority of supporters. As it is the away day habit was broken some time ago and the Poultry stableford takes priority this afternoon but certainly wouldn't have been a sufferance to be looking forward to going to this one. Bit of an exaggeration to say that a 1-0 away win is an annihilation, but hopefully Argyle can carry out a similar scorched earth job this afternoon and come away with the same result.

I hate to quote the Argo doomster Freathers, but I think this will be very tough today at the Valley, Charlton are on a good run, but then so are we, so I see no reason that Argyle won't prevail today, other than we have a off day, which of course can happen after a very good performance. COYG

Did you watch the actual game?
To refresh your memory, argyle were sloppy at the start of the second half and let Accrington back in...... They missed two sitters at 2 1

Lack of control also saw us drop points at Lincoln and poor attitude saw us get a point more than we should have had at Morecambe.
