If it's so many trillion miles away.....how do we know it didn't burn itself out millions of years ago and we're only seeing what's taken ages to get here.

Because we know what the speed of light is I guess although admittedly it won't be live stream. I wonder how long it takes the image to get here? The interesting bit for me is where does all this matter go? What's on the other side of it? Is it just an anus of the Gods or a portal to another dimension? I might just skin up and mull it over.
