Black Tie Empty
PostSubject: Black Tie   Black Tie EmptyThu Nov 21, 2013 9:59 am

Anyone been to a black tie do recently? I bought a suit about 5 years ago and just wondered if I'm going to look like I've found it out the front of Oxfam on a Sunday morning.

Dickie bow, should this always be one you tie yourself? I've got one of those clip jobs.
How many buttons on the jacket? Mine has three.
Shirt, what sort of collar, pleated front, buttons???
Trousers, slim fit or can I get away with loose fit?
Shoes, patent leather or summat else?

Does it really matter that much?

Just turn up in a Gorrilla costume and say you got punked by the wife, she'll be the office clown and you'll stay warm, I can't see what could go wrong?

Bought a new shirt with textured-bib front, enamelled dress studs and a point collar. To be honest the collar rubbed my neck like feck so I'm taking it back. Even the champagne couldn't hide the irritation.

So it turns out my wife works with a couple of swingers. The MD got hammered and was going to go off with the pair of them but got talked round by a colleague. Got in at 3am after drinking double Obans in the hotel bar with my wifes boss. Nice little £55 taxi ride to end off the night and not even an attempt at getting the old whatsname as I could barely take my own clothes let alone the missus's.

As nights out go I'm giving it an 8 out of 10. Having said that seeing a drunk fella buy a signed and framed Messi shirt for £850 was pretty funny. We watched him at the end of the night staggering off down Woburn Place towards Euston with this huge frame and he may have well have written please mug me on the packaging. I hope he's okay.
