PLYMOUTH Argyle have the contract status of 'the majority' of their players for next season under control, chief executive Martyn Starnes has explained.

Manager Derek Adams carried out a huge overhaul of his squad last summer after the League Two Play-Off Final defeat by AFC Wimbledon.

As a result of that, Starnes confirmed the majority' of the current Argyle players had appearance-related options in their contracts.

Very difficult to deduce whether it's Brent, Starnes or Adams that has left this club with such a miserly employment regime that is champing at the bit to introduce a Steinbeck grapes of wrath regime. Just how is a club ethic supposed to emerge from such contracts ?
Is the same policy applied to the back room, management staff, etc or is the idea of performance pay just a football thing ? Will Hallett not receive his interest payments if his asset building doesn't come up to the mark ?
It just gets worse under the thumbscrews of Brent and Hallett. How can any self respecting footballer who is in demand at their level accept such conditions ? No wonder Purrington decided he would rather work for a relegation club than a promoted Argyle.

Be like the last 2season have to build new squad each year

Starnes ranks as the most incompetant CEO of any organisation within the UK.....Name another CEO that appears on the BBC in Sweatshirt and Jeans. You can easily spot when he's lying a mile off because his lips move....

Starnes was known at Yeovil for only offering 1 year deals to players even top draw ones. Not sure if they had auto renew for 1 year in those deals though.

If the club had ambition to be a serious professional football club with ambitions they would be offering their top stars longer deals not 1 year with an option which leaves you in the poo eventually like it will with Carey in the summer.
