"socialist"? The nordic bunch are pretty socialist, and doing pretty well out of it, certainly they've much higher living standards than here. I'm not sure which other socialist groups you're on about in Europe. The odd bunch who are socialist by name maybe...

Yeh me too Dog, I was talking to someone the other day who was telling me that all the countries with natural resources are on their arses pretty much with big deficits. It encourages you to spend on income that in the end in shared out between the people that don't need it then the countries borrow against the revenue to provide public services, a great model that seems V popular at the moment. As for Europe it was never going to work apart from the Germans who had the best exchange for their money when they went in, its another excuse to hide money in a paper trail and share it out amongst the same old faces.
A friend of mine who has also travelled a great deal said that he thought that Britain had always been a pretty fair country, not without its problems but nowadays we are as corrupt as any third world nation, I would tend to agree. You only have to listen to the Tory conference to hear the problem, bring the benefits cap down from £28k to £23k per family! These families are working, generally for companies like Tesco who pay less than the living wage so we as taxpayers top up the wages of the staff so that the company can make dividends for share holders, fair as fook innit? I didn't hear any mention of a cap on farm subsidies although there are hundreds of farmers who bank million plus subsidy checks every year. No mention of upping the tax on the sale of second homes for instance (28% all that's payable not the 40% you see on most other unearned income). How about taxing savings over a million at 2%? It would raise billions more. How about replacing all the agencies in the health service with administrators to supply all the staff? I know somebody who runs an agency and they are clearing over a mill a year, I know a nurse who works for them and she is working nights on £45/hr, good for her but the agency is also taking £45/hr and her pay rate would be twenty odd quid an hour via the health service. Funnily enough another of their friends is on the board of the hospital although the new Merc he drives was reportedly bought from supporting a planning app. in his role as councillor, could always be worse though eh? At least we don't live in Russia. LMFAO.

Feckin Kippers will be no more than a finger in the dyke of the establishment, don't get me wrong I salute anything that causes the power to sweat a bit but it will do no more than that, just look how Maggie T threw a few sops to the greens in the 80's to stop the green movement in its tracks. Add to that the fact that every social climbing cnut in the country who earns over £20k/a believes that they are somehow allied to the ruling classes, we will have to hang every single Hyacinth Bucket in the country to effect any real change.
