Yet another f***ing committee. Some people have "committee OCD".... not happy until there's a committee for everything. Control freakery at it's worst

As an aside....is there a committee that organises the singing on the Kop?

'Yes' is the answer.

Interestingly Reclaim the Kop was supported by the club for a mere 10 weeks and eventually became a thorn in the clubs side actively organising and demonstrating against the club. If that's the way FV goes there is hope.

I got as far as the second paragraph this time - "re-emergence of the fantastic Home Park atmosphere", before giving up.

What utter bollocks.

The atmosphere at HP has been butchered by the decision to close the noisiest part of the ground, blocks 15-18. That, I'm afraid, is a fact.

A couple hundred singers in the Devonport doesn't constitute an atmosphere. Sit anywhere but in close proximity, and it is like a morgue.

It's a travesty that a huge part of our true home advantage has been evaporated by first implementing these measures, and then continuing with them, despite being under new ownership, and on a stable financial footing.

Where's the intimidation we used to put upon visiting teams? It's gone. And until Brent wakes up to that fact, sterility will continue to rule, Im afraid.

In my time it was the Devonport that provided the atmosphere. There is no reason it shouldn't return there. And if we start winning it will grow. I think it has already done that this season and signs that it was spreading - a way to go certainly.

The bold bit is the answer, it has always been that way and it will always be that way.

Modern times now knecht. Razz

The Devonport, as the home end, will always have a collection of singers, but for at least the last 25 years we've had two atmospheric areas, the Lyndhurst being closer to the away fans, therefore creating a natural 'to and fro' atmosphere between rival fans that each other responded to.

Hell, before the Mayflower was closed, even the knobbers that stood down in the corner nearest the away fans giving them 'hard' stares, got a response off the away fans, thus resulting in a good raw footballing atmosphere.

If some kid with a drum in block 4, that is barely audible two blocks away, is the way forward, then I despair!

Hey! Don't knock "the knobbers that stood down in the corner nearest the away fans giving them 'hard' stares". Hard stares can be pretty devastating. When I came back to visit that's where I stood with my ex-hoolie brother. Smile

Edited due to seemingly duff information. My apologies.

I stood there quite a few times after the redevelopment of the Demport.

I used to nip in there when the beer tent was up and running, not sure about intimidating the away fans but I sure felt uncomfortable on occasions What a Face
