Given the filthy conditions in most hospitals at the moment, I'm sure the screaming from germ infected patients down the corridoor from you will ensure you do.

Watch all the staff like a hawk to make sure they wash their hands, and if the surgeon looks at his watch at all, he's probably got a lunchtime tee off time at the golf club. This tends to lead to a rushed botch job.

Don't go worrying about things like MRSA, particularly the flesh eating strain referred to in this Daily Mail article;

The Daily Mail is always scaremongering. I know they once had a piece about patients dying when going under from anaesthetics, as this article says the chances of dying from going under are between 11-16 patients in 100,000, and there have been at least 99,000 patients anaesthetised recently without a single one dying. That leaves the odds of it happening to you at about 11-16 out of 1,000, so a bit unlikely. Probably as unlikely as Scotland beating Australia in Australia at Rugby Union, which actually happened a few weeks ago and was a bit of a surprise.

I'm only joking Cobi. At your age I had operations on both knees, which ended any possibilty of me playing football to a decent standard. I was crapping myself for two weeks before the op, but it was over with in no time and the pain afterwards was a dull ache, nothing like what I had expected.

Same with the hernia op. You won't feel a thing and it's more of a discomfort than a real pain afterwards, and it's a good chance to have a bit of sympathy from friends and family, and a good opportunity to show young ladies the scar and accidently pull your pants down too far and show them your trousersnake. It could have it's advantages, if they don't press charges.
