Derek Adams needs £15000

Derek Adams has ruled out the Plymouth Argyle squad staying in south-east England between their back-to-back away games against Millwall and Portsmouth.

The Pilgrims will play Championship club Millwall in the Carabao Cup second round on Wednesday, August 29 (7.45pm).

The tie is being played 24 hours later than usual because Millwall are in Championship action at Rotherham United on the Sunday.

It means the Argyle squad will not return to Plymouth until the early hours of the Thursday morning.

They will then leave on the Friday lunchtime for the away League One game against Portsmouth at Fratton Park on Saturday, September 1.

Preparation time for that match will be minimal but, according to Adams, there is nothing that can be done about that.

It shouldn't be down to bucket rattling, surely the club can cover 15k.

£15,000 where the fook did that figure come from? Somebody has this wrong I think? assuming a squad of 22 people with subs coaches and physio that would work out at £681 pp. Where the fook are they staying the Rizt? A Travelodge is more like £60 pp and would work out at approx £1,500 in total.
A coach is going to cost about £500 so the extra night away would only cost the club about a grand.
Like everything about Argyle and Brent these days I smell bullshit.

I think they mostly stays at a Holiday Inn, you must put meals on to the expenditure and it will be for 4 nights

I would think that any hotel would be delighted to have around 25 people turn up needing a room.

In fact I'm surprised that there isn't some sort of arrangement with Holiday Inn, Hilton or somebody and they stay at the same chain for all of their travels wherever they go, and pay a reduced rate when they do, because it would mount up to a serious amount of business over a season.

23 away games, 25 people paying £75 per night comes to £43k over a season and then add in extras that might accrue and you're up to a minimum of £50k quite easily.

Hardly going to register on global turnover but still good, reliable business nonetheless.

Perhaps hotel arrangements are outsourced to Akkeron & are subject to "A bit of a mark-up" ?
