it does nothing to explain the situation regarding Wrathall purchase of shares (and lets remeber this is where is all began) and what the money will be used for.

If anyone was expecting a statement that went into details, more fool them.

This is pretty much what is expected of them to say, whether we're fine or in real shit.

I didn't expect them to say anything.  When have they commented on rumours before?

The fact they said anything is in of itself, unusual.

The trouble is that their communication with fans and fan groups has been so inadequate that when it comes it's hard to take it on face value. I read someone saying just now that if the suggestion is that the fans have misread the situation then the board have only themselves to blame for that. Sounds accurate to me.
