An Appraisal Of Argyle Under James Brent Empty
PostSubject: An Appraisal Of Argyle Under James Brent   An Appraisal Of Argyle Under James Brent EmptyThu Oct 31, 2013 11:09 am

I posted this a day or two ago unaware that it was so close to the 2 years anniversary of our exit from administration.

Brent made a blinding start from every point of view. When you think about it he got everybody out of a hole by assuming ownership. P&A were just about to become the first modern time insolvency practitioner to actually preside over the death of a professional football club. Their reputation would have been finished and they would have lost a considerable amount of cash. The council gained because a city as big as Plymouth losing its most famous brand would have been a complete PR disaster. The Trust gained because of the prominent role it played throughout. As supporters we gained because we still had a club. Brent massively raised his personal profile, gained a football club, a nice plot of land and a nice in to a potentially hugely profitable property development or two or three. It was as if everywhere you looked the fruit machines were throwing out jackpots.

Given where we were it was an astonishingly good outcome. The buzz of relief was wonderful and the out-pouring of goodwill towards James Brent as he was paraded in front of the fans up at Cheltenham was immense and from there Brent went on to talk the talk wonderfully.

"The club must be a sustainable business." After what we had just been through who could disagree?

"We will be open and transparent in our dealings." Given the shady provenance of Heaney, Guilfoyle and their anonymous buddies nothing could have been more desirable.

"I will sell 20% of the club to the Trust." More widespread acclaim.

"I want the club to be at the heart of the community." People were now openly swooning at his feet.

"I want the fans to be at the heart of the club." Riotous shouts of "Huzzah!" and hats thrown in the air.

And now we are here.

And the reality is very, very, very different.

PAFC has been completely asset-stripped and even potential income streams for years to come look like benefitting the club not a jot. Brent has leveraged every last penny he has "spent" against the club via loans and hasn't actually "paid" his own money for anything in any meaningful sense. Brent's development of Home Park will leave us with an inadequate stadium with no hope of it being extended. Brent has actually said that his first responsibility is to himself and not to either Argyle or to us as fans. The club is still losing money, is not sustainable and the growing debt stands at around £5m. The Trust has been derided, insulted, patronised and frozen out. Even Brent's personal brainchild, PASB, has been treated with brazen, open contempt by him.

It is truly incredible that from such a promising start Brent has squandered much of that goodwill. We now know for sure that PASB was established just to destabilise the Trust, that all along the property deal was all that mattered and that Argyle is something of a pesky inconvenience which is taking up far too much of a very busy man's time.

I'd just add to that that on the pitch in these 2 years Argyle has seen no progress to speak of, humiliation would not be too strong a word, in cup football and has risen from 92nd to 87th in the Football League and that despite being rent free the club's debt position has not improved at all and could be said to have worsened given that we are now 3 years instead of 5 away from having to settle it.

It is common to have performance reviews and appraisals in most workplaces these days. I wonder how an appraisal of James Brent's tenure would play out? Or even if there is anybody in his entourage that has the balls to suggest that he honestly appraises Argyle's last 2 years himself?

Some of us are just happy to have a club to support. flower The fact that the club is now just a vehicle for an old Etonian asset stripper should be welcomed, it's what makes Britain great! Fleece everybody for personal gain, it's the modern way!
All hail Emperor Brent!

Are you banned from PASOTI Babs because so much of what you post on here should also be posted on there. They are given a far too easy ride on there with so many not towing the party line banned. Your message really should reach a wider audience.

Most of those left on the farm are either too 'involved' with the reluctant one and enjoying the freebies and fame, or are too thick to understand the bigger picture.

Bringing the likes of Webb n Newell onside with position and influence [nay power] was essential to the plan and has kept the great unwashed either blissfully unaware, or in the case of the educated w@nkers, has seen them marginalised and largely silenced.

Post it on the farm SFD/Baba and see how long it lasts.

Not talking about "they" though Jack I am talking about the average Pasoiite who "they" try to keep as much non-compliant opinion away from with all the bannings and thread editing. And why is Womble getting it in the neck with all the "Womble" in inverted commas treatment from Mr Newell this morning. Hes one of the most impartial, well balanced posters on there and has never come across to me as a person with any sort of agenda whatsoever.

Kindly list the assets which Brent has "stripped" and explain exactly how their retention would have defrayed the £17million the club needed to pay its creditors?

Feckin' dreamworld you guys live in.

You're just a bunch of whining, amateur can kickers, you did fook all to save the club yourselves now all you can do is bitch because someone with a bit of acumen did.

He could post that on the farm, if he wanted to be threatened and have drinks thrown over him again if he ever decided to try the Argyle corporate hospitality lounge again.

Even one of Argyle's best sponsors was verbally abused and threatened because Nooligan jnr. thought it was me.

Mr Argyle and his trailer park trash family can do as they please at Home Park so if you're not partial to wearing Tribute aftershave it's probably best not to post anything like this on the farm Very Happy

You've pretty much answered your own question.
All the so called deals that have been allocated to JB and the league position says it all

Their definitely seems to be some sort of half arsed rank structure in or on near enough everything that the usual suspects touch, the fan-fests being no exception . The usual suspects being Nool and Ghoul, coming in a close second you have people like Nickkkkkkkkkkkk who seem get off on the publicity that his lardy arsed sidekick and PR rep provides him with, not to mention the sanitized bum-licking threads that appear on Pasoti at irregular intervals.
Its all about being somebody at Argyle these days, the status of the club is nowhere near the top of the agenda.
Sad Times.

Someone was asked to start that thread.  No-one is THAT gullable, easily fooled, Aviva and happy clappy FFS

That thread has attracted the usual collection of the self promoting and their extremely gullable and dimwitted followers.  Luckily it's only the same few individuals led by the supreme superfan who still spout this shit (that not all of them can possibly believe) praising the b*nker (spit) to the skies.  Br*nt must laughing his tits off at these mugs.

Punchy nails it! This is so true, it used to be about league status with Porky starting accounts on Exeweb like a pasoti mod with a day off, so that he could crow about how great we were. Now he has to content himself with trying to get his feet further under Brent's table than anybody else, or it's a quiche eating contest around at Nikkks with all the details published in the septic forum for his acolytes (who lets be honest are really him, Postey and Ponty (hi Steve!)). Once the football gets better we can forget all this shit as we will really have a club to support not the asset stripped bottom of the league style under Brent.
