Herald Sport also understands Fletcher has an interest in Southampton's former Argyle left-back/midfielder Ryan Dickson.

The Pilgrims' boss is thought to want to complete a loan deal for Dickson, who has not played any first team football for Saints this season.

The 26-year-old from Saltash attended Argyle's 1-1 draw with Torquay United at Home Park on Boxing Day.

Dickson was a graduate of the club's youth ranks and played seven times for the Pilgrims at senior level.

He moved to Brentford, initially on loan, in November 2007 and was sold to Southampton for a tribunal-set six-figure fee in the summer of 2010.

Dickson has made 30 appearances, including 19 starts, for Saints and his only goal for them came in a 3-1 win against Argyle at Home Park in May 2011.

That victory clinched promotion to the Championship for Southampton and ensured the Pilgrims' relegation to League Two.
