Is there a secret knock to get in via the rear entrance? I suppose i could go incognito and run the risk of getting a poisoned umbrella tip up the jacksy

Christ Punchy, "the rear entrance", "getting one up the jacksy", you'd be better off down Mr Harrys...is that still there after all this years...I only used to go there for lock ins...honest.

I've no idea if that bar still exists but it reminded me of something when I read your comment Charlie. I joined the Navy more or less straight from school at the tender age of 16 having left school in the Easter holidays a few weeks previously. I was born and bred in Plymouth which soon got found out by others in the class of 65. Obvious question to me was therefore where is there to go in Plymouth for a night out. Everyone expected me to know where was in and what happened there. Given my age and that all you could do at that age then was go to a local youth club I was about as much use as a jelly matchbox. I learned more about my City of birth in the 6 weeks at Raleigh than I had ever known. Introduced to the RN School of Dancing which was then the old Paramount at the side of the Palace Theatre. My biggest problem was being a junior (under 18) I had to be back on Camp by 11pm so some experiences never came my way.

Once I'd learned the "nightlife" and realised how little of it I knew in my sheltered upbringing then yes is the obvious answer to that. It may have been the so called swinging 60's but this was in Plymouth remember. I did learn a lot in my first year mind you.
