Unfortunately it is the democratic will of the people.

No it isn't at all, it's the will of the paid up Conservative party members, period, even if they are Russian. Brexit was the democratic will of the people but you get confused about that as well.

Why do people make such a big deal out of the fact that Conservative party members will be choosing their next leader who will also be the PM?

I don’t remember getting to vote for a new PM when blair the war criminal gave up the job and gave it to brown the thieving cnut.

It would be the same for any party in power that their members choose and not the great unwashed public.

I'm totally against the political system and this is one reason why I am, there literally is only token democracy in the UK and most of government time is spent on power struggles like these instead of running the country. When Truss takes power there will be calls for another GE as she doesn't have a mandate from the people like Boris did but then look what good that did him, a massive majority yet literally all the MPs from both sides of the house spent all their time trying to remove him. No wonder the country is in such a state is it? As for the deluded fools that think Starmer would do any better I just laugh really and in a GE I think Truss would get a landslide because I have never met anyone who thinks he is any good.
starmers just a watered down version of the Tory party don’t get me wrong I’d luv to see a socialist government but not led by him someone who’s got some bollocks and back to there trade union roots

That Mick Lynch guy sounds up your street, Reg. I believe Mick Lynch and Martin Lewis are currently running the country, becuse no one knows where the feck the proper government are! Maybe all hid in fridges until this shitstorm dies down. What a Face

Love the headline of the Star, "Hypocrisy special, future PM who gets 13 weeks holiday a year tells us to all work harder whilst current PM is on holiday".

Some senior Tories suggesting that if Liz Truss does not tackle the cost of living crisis should she be PM, the party will suffer in the next election.

15 point lead for Labour currently and Keir who am not overtly fond of has no need to even raise a red flag to the disastrous Tory government which lurches from one crisis to another

Boris was devious and vile
Liz is devious vile and simply insanely dim and flip flops from day to day

With whats coming this Autumn Winter onwards god alone knows how big the Labour lead will be come the Spring 2023

What is clear is the 12/13 years of Tory rule is close to over

I'm really not so sure, having a lead in mid term means feck all and it's quite another thing to go from kind of thinking Starmer is better than Truss to actually voting for him, I personally don't know anybody that likes him. Labour are missing a shoe in at the next election by sticking with him, if they would just appoint someone who not just plays lip service to the average working man and woman but actually listens to their concerns and actually gives a feck for them they would have a landslide, everyone I know but the Tories that would still vote for them even if they said they would repossess their houses, are sick the gills of them now. Just as well Boris got Brexit done Truss wouldn't have stood a chance with it.

Sunak v Truss....I don't understand how anyone can see this as a contest.

Truss will be a poor PM and will cause waves to crash.

Sunak is a none starter....he is a Hindu who took his Oath of Allience affirming his commitment to the Queen and the State on the Hindu Holy Scripture the ' Bhagwad Gita'.

Can you see the Tory middle classes....all 170,000 of them in the shires and beyond voting for an Hindu to lead this country.....they mostly still love Boris.

I'm quite glad that most people couldn't give a toss that he's a Hindu in fact this is the first time I've heard it bought up and personally I couldn't give a toss whether he was religious or atheist, I worry more that he's an out of touch grinning bore who hasn't got a clue about anything.

If Rishi Sunak loses he will resign as a MP and apply to get his green card to America back and he will be off.

Her tax cuts are fecking ludicrous, this isn't the time to be cutting tax and the tax cuts would just avoid giving help to the people that need help. Nationalizing the energy firms is the only way forward yet all the euro fans who thought buying our energy from France made perfect sense are pretty quiet about how we deal with that little problem now?

The UK also imports fuel from Norway. This has now stopped as Norway needs it more - BBC World Service 9pm news mentioned it last week.

Can't see the energy firms being taken back under government control tbh. There is more chance that you could see the extracting of fossil fuel being reintroduced.

I cant see Truss Actually cutting taxes despite promising she would in anycase for that very reason you stated once its dawned on her that its not a good idea at all.

What's more half of our gas comes from the north sea, which we own, yet we have to pay world prices for these supplies leading to a ten fold increase in the cost, even when we own something it's used as a tool to extract money from us.
We need a revolution.

Some commentators suggesting that there may be disorder on the streets sometime soon over the price rises, and apparently some folk are refusing to pay bills due to the highness of them.

Where I live I have a prepayment gas meter, only have a gas cooker now as the gas fire got condemned, along with a coin meter for the electric - landlord pays the electric bill for the entire house which has four other flats, so he gets money from them. My electric meter does not work very well as it takes a long time for it to hit rock bottom. He has had it fixed, changed etc and it is still doing the same. I believe a former tenant rewired the flat electric to use as much as possible for little input.

Everyone can see Truss will be a total disaster.  The tiny group of tory geriatrics who get to vote in our next PM don't have much of a choice but they will never vote for Fishy Rishi in a million years and out of the two they see Truss as the closer to Bozo - the least worst option for them.  After a few weeks of the pound shop Maggie in No10 the tories will be so far behind in the polls they wouldn't dare call an early general election.  But they can run but they can't hide and however much the country dislikes Starmer the people will be utterly sick to death of the tories after the misery of the cost of living crisis and following the next GE there will be a Labour government, albeit maybe a Labour led coalition.

this is what happens when rebellion starts and their is no "leader" in place when its successful. Too much division lead to the candidates we have now and both are not good for the party or indeed more importantly the country. We will be stuck with a bad PM till the Tories get bored and ousted sunak/truss cause it sure as hell not going to come from a Labour general election victory as they are way off from that.

This country isn't broke. It's fecked. Utterly fecked. There'll be violence on the streets of Meavy tonight. fore shore.

Its seriously disturbing that Truss is seemingly likely to land in number 10
The woman is just so utterly thick everyone should be concerned over the next 2 years
Frankly I can another leadership election before the next GE because she is that bad

Just look at her vacant face when asked a question thats not been pre arranged. Something is home in that head of hers but nothing computes

The never ending stream of illegal migrants crossing the channel should be one of Truss or Sunaks first tasks, endangering national security and costing British taxpayers billions and are a symbol of this government’s utter incompetence.
Every single cabinet minister shares responsibility for this failure.

She isn't stupid just divorced from reality, a lot like Starmer in fact they could be non identical twins.
