Nigel Adkins departs as Charlton Manager

Charlton Athletic can confirm the departure of Nigel Adkins as the club’s Manager

ohnnie Jackson will take the role of Caretaker Manager and will be assisted by Jason Euell.

Owner Thomas Sandgaard said: “Nigel joined us at the end of last season and had an immediate impact, as we finished the season well, just missing out on a play-off place on goal difference. Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to carry that form into this season.

“I’d like to thank Nigel for his hard work, positivity and continued professionalism during his time at the club. We are all disappointed that it hasn’t worked out this season and we wish him the very best for the future.”

Jackson took one game in his previous role as Caretaker Manager in early March, when the Addicks beat Bristol Rovers 3-2 at The Valley. He will take training on Thursday morning and will speak to the press on Thursday afternoon ahead of Saturday’s trip to Sunderland.

Never really rated him Tbh his never really done anythink at the bigger clubs his managed the only some kind of sucess if you can even call it that at little Scunthorpe where originally started out as there physo before getting the main gig

Some people are only good at being number 2 in football management.

He got Southampton promoted from League 1 to the premier, wouldn't mind that sort of failure at HP TBH.

They hate Pardew with a passion at Charlton but Curbishley could be a good outside bet if he was interested in managing again, steady the ship type of elder statesman respected by all etc etc.

My in laws are massive Charlton fans and they absolutely detest Pardew for what he did to the club when he was there.

I believe Simon Jordan sued Iain Dowie over that fact when he quit Palace to move nearer Merseyside to take over at Charlton lol
