Response to James Brent

Not for the first time Argyle Talk Democratic has had to respond to the PAFC Chairman, James Brent, this time as a result of an unwarranted attack by him on one of it's posters, and a statement made by Mr Brent that this forum is 'vile and poisonous', both of which occurred at the recent fans forum.

These actions seems to have been provoked by a written question posed by an ATD poster concerning an amount of money raised by the Green Taverners and given to the club as a loan, several years ago. Mr Brent, ignored the question, and proceeded to malign the ATD poster, incorrectly saying that he owned the ATD forum and then, rather bizarrely, asking for a show of hands by the bemused audience of the value of ATD to PAFC. Having spent several minutes on the topic, he noticeably failed to answer the question.

It is the view of the ATD moderators and Keyholders that Mr Brent should be called to account for his unusual behaviour, which for a Chairman of a football club, is to say the least unbecoming and completely unnecessary. It has been clear for a long time that Mr Brent cannot take on board any form of criticism for his actions around the football club. There are many posters on ATD and other sites that do not trust Mr Brent's motives in owning the football club, and have pointed out, and will continue to so, Mr Brent's capacity for non-delivery of projects with which he is involved, particularly the first attempt at building a new Grandstand. There is little confidence amongst the fanbase that these latest proposals will ever take shape and there is a growing feeling that Mr Brent is simply using the football club as a vehicle on to which he can piggy back the private developments at Higher Home Park for his own benefit.

For our part, ATD will continue to question actions taken by Mr Brent, when there is a need to do so. As always, personal abuse will not be tolerated and we will not resort to calling Mr Brent 'vile and poisonous', which, in our view, demeans him as an individual and as Chairman of a football club.

In short, Mr Brent, it is time you delivered something for the benefit of the football club. Do that, and the feeling against you may well change for the better, and the mistrust of your motives may well ease. If not, expect more questioning, expect more criticism. Outbursts such as you made at the fans forum do not add to the debate, they simply make people more suspicious of you and your actions. On the pitch, the team has done well to reach League 1 and it will have our full support as always in the coming season. It will be interesting to see if the Chairman and the board can rise above Conference level.

I can visualise De-Liar wringing his secretarial hands, salivating and frothing at the mouth at the thought of reporting such vile mutterings to his porcine master. He can't believe what a gem he is about to produce for his master to divulge.

Of course, Mr Brent will know about this within seconds.

An excellent statement from ATD and bang on the money.
I would add one more thing. It would appear that Brent has been earholed far too often by Newell who has always had an unhealthy interest in stoking up division and trouble in the fan base for years. It gives him pleasure and a role at the club under Brent. The low cunning has got to Brent it would seem, or maybe he also has a long held curl of his own.

That this fan  supposedly owned ATD, which I know for a fact he certainly did not and never will, is a long held false opinion of pasoti owner Newell, and has always been part of a long line of nasty abuse toward one individual that is well documented, and goes back ten years when Brent hadn't hardly ever been to a football match.
There are many fans not happy about Brent and these latest proposals and embarrassing episodes like that fans' forum will only serve to increase efforts to give well founded community concern. It's a good job Derek Adams is on the ball, because he is the only plus point I can see on the horizon

There are emergency same day appointments at Mount Gould for individuals with delusions of grandeur and building Grandstands......Not as if he hasn't got a Chauffeur on hand

FWIW I think it was a well planned chance to attack ATD, not some off the cuff outburst.
Why not invite JB etc to the Mutley Mash Up? He'll be able to meet some of the posters from here for himself, and make his own judgements on them!

Of course it was Beeb. An attempt to marginalise and enfreak any disenting voices in pasoti tradition just as more importantly he intends to marginalise and dismiss disenting voices in the wider city community regarding his new plans. His attitude has been arrogant all along saying locals have to be dragged kicking and screaming into the Brent century. Access to money does not mean your plans are suitable and well thought out. Quite the opposite it would seem from recent failures.

So jimbo didnt like rickers question about the money..well heres another one..whats happened to the 150k that brent borrowed from the club coffers in a loan to prop up the the pavillions has that been returned yet and what intrest did he charge himself for said loan and what are the terms of so called repayments id like to know..as it was on the club accounts they finally had to produce a few months back it said of 150k loan to the pavillions but didnt say lenght of the loan & what the repayments were..and what happened to the million pound sweetner the council gave jimmy in the first place to take the over the pavillions wheres that gone jimmy that you have to borrow 150k from the club to prop up your other failing ventures
