FFS, what's wrong with using Megabus like the rest of us oiks.

The RAF don't work weekends, need Friday off to prepare for the weekend and Monday off to recover. Tuesday's is always Morris dancing practice and Thursday is spent in the briefing room naked watching the video's of the Red Arrows while playing with their top gun
So Wednesday's? Reserved for very low risk bombing runs providing they are back by dark .. or ... use a drone and retire to the nursery.

One of the reasons these ruling elites start all their wars is when the wars break out, they get all the extra personal protection, while the general public get nothing. Plymouth knows that better than most. The modern warfare model now kills hugely more civilians than it does armed combatants, something in the region of 10 to 1. It was always quite the opposite.

As for the inter service rivalry, how pointless is that. One can always apply for the air force, rather than the army/marines. It is a paid volunteer profession. It's not conscription.
