Just Back

Okay not back from Lincoln just first time I’ve been at my computer since arriving back home to Chingford on Saturday evening.

So couldn’t get a babysitter and therefore left the missus at home and took my two youngest sons.
Now this was my first game of the season and I wouldn't normally have made the trip to Lincoln to watch Argyle (cost) but my mate sorted out tickets in the VIP area so I thought “why not”.

I’ll tell you why not.

1) It’s flipping miles to Lincoln
2) Traffic hell in Chingford meaning it took me 30 minutes to get on the M11
3) M11 stationary from M25 junction so headed for the A1
4) Two under 7 years old are great company but need to stop for a pee a lot
5) Raining continuously until we got to north Beds
6) Car radio stopped working so no football chat to build the excitement
7) Asda self service till, ordered £20 cash back and decided to leave it in the dispenser and walk out.  Only thought about it when asked for cash at the bar.
VIP lounge food - pasty (carrots) and mushy peas (WTF?)
9) There was a game, I think.  New bloke come on looked lively but everyone else were just a bit, well, not that good really.
10) Left the ground, peeing down
11) Tried to find a cash machine and got stuck down a dead end street. Go on Google maps, drive to the end then imaging it pitch black, raining with two hungry kids in the car. Oh and I have a 7 seater Mazda MPV.  Nightmare!

12) McDonalds
13) Long journey home in the rain, no radio, two pee stops
14) Got in about 9pm missus said “did you get my message about milk”, back out into the rain.

I think the kids enjoyed it.

and no booze to soften the standard of football.

Well done Chingers, for turning the car around in the main and I'm glad that (I think) everyone enjoyed their day!

Actually 1 pint of Guinness before the game. It wasn't anywhere near enough.

If nobody was behind you in the queue at Asders then the machine probably simply swallowed your money again. Check it out with your bank and tell them you want your £20.

If you haven't already binned it, keep your stub/ticket mate. When we get drawn away to Chelsea/Man U/etc. in the 3rd round it may just get u higher up the pecking order for tickets.

Sounds like you deserved it.

Ended up not being able to go because of signalling repairs on the Shef to Lincoln train line (repairs apparently were supposed to be completed in September!). It meant that it would have been a 2+hrs journey each way with the glory of a 'rail replacement' bus to and from Retford. Forget that I thought - sounds like I dodged a bullet in terms of the performance.

I should be a York this saturday though, unless Virgin or whoever have f**ked up their line repairs. Open terrace so I hope the weather is nice!

Sorted the cash out with Asders. The assistant was quick off the mark and kept the money for me. They said they would credit my account. Right touch!

I saw Mr Brent and his entourage in the VIP Lounge. They don't particularly look like they're enjoying themselves very much. Perhaps the nil nils are starting to wear a little thin....

That is still the worrying bit about it.....Even though they have not lost in four games now and won the previous two too.
