Graham Coughlan to leave Bristol Rovers and take job at League Two Mansfield Town

Graham Coughlan has informed the Bristol Rovers players he's leaving the club and is ready to take a job at League Two Mansfield Town, Bristol Live understands.

Just a few minutes after a brilliant 2-1 victory over Ipswich Town which lifted the Gas into fourth in League One, Coughlan astonishingly revealed he is considering his future at Rovers and will make a decision on Sunday morning.

Coughlan has informed the squad he has been offered a job at a club closer to his home in Sheffield and will take assistant manager Joe Dunne with him, just 12 months after replacing Darrell Clarke at the Memorial Stadium.

How long does homesickness kick in as i dont recall him wanting to go when he was a Southend all those years or Bristol for a few years after than prior to today.

The homesick was more sarcasm really.

He's probably told the board he needs investment to get them up and they've told him no so he pulled out the homesick card and off he goes.

Mansfield’s owner has money. Cocko knows his stock is high at the minute. If he can double his salary by dropping a division it’s not the most unusual decision.

He probably wasn't quite as hands on at Southend too so could get home more than he can now so maybe the homesickness is slightly a part. But Mansfield have the cash to splash and I guess Cocko is an ambitious man.

Just read elsewhere that they have now been given permission to talk to him, after two approaches rejected. How much comp will Mansfield pay to get him ?.

Wonder if the gas will be a tad ruffled ahead of the replay tomorrow.

Just seen on sky sports news they turned down 2 approaches but finally let him speak to em on the 3rd approach so it looks like a down deal..just sorting compo by the looks of it
