Derek Adams the favourite to take over at Leyton Orient

Former Plymouth Argyle manager Derek Adams is the odds-on favourite with one leading bookmaker to take over at Leyton Orient.

The 44-year-old Scot has been without a club since his dismissal by the Pilgrims towards the end of April.

Orient returned to the EFL for this season after being promoted as National League champions last term.

However, the east London club was stunned by the death of boss Justin Edinburgh, at the age of 49, in June due to a cardiac arrest.

Edinburgh’s assistant, Ross Embleton took on the role of interim head coach in the tragic circumstances.

However, he made the decision a fortnight ago to revert to his position of assistant coach upon the appointment of a new head coach.

Bookmakers Paddy Power now have Adams as the 5/6 favourite for the Brisbane Road vacancy.

Orient are currently in 20 position in League Two with 13 points from their first 12 games.

Another Scot, Colin Calderwood, is the 6/4 second favourite to take over at Orient, while Barnet manager Darren Currie, the former Argyle midfielder, is 9/1.

Orient have already been to Home Park this season, losing 2-0 to Argyle in the Carabao Cup first round.

Their away league game against the Pilgrims is coming up in a fortnight, on Tuesday, October 22.

So if Adams were to be appointed by the O’s, one of his first matches would be on a very familiar territory.

Let's hope that Adams first act is to raid Argyle for all his old players.

Perhaps he's after the accolade to get two different teams relegated in consecutive seasons.

Get you money in for orient to go down in now, before they announce him

Good luck to him...plus no penny pinching from a shyster like brent holding his hands tied be interesting to see how he gets on with a decent budget..and not scrowing northern job centres and signing some of whitehawks finest as well
