Carey Makes EFL Team of the Year - As Well Being in Running for Best Goal Gong

GRAHAM Carey has been named in the EFL Sky Bet League One Team of the Season.

Graham has been voted into Sky Bet League One’s Best 11 in a composite side chosen by the division’s managers. He and Peterborough’s Jack Marriott are the only two players from outside the division’s top three of Blackburn Rovers, Shrewsbury Town and Wigan Athletic to be honoured.

Carey's stunning goal against Blackpool earlier in the season has made it through to the last five of the Mitre Goal of the Year.

The dipping volley in a 2-2 draw at Bloomfield Road on December 30 is one of the top five goals scored in the Sky Bet Championship and Leagues One and Two.

The 2018 EFL Awards take place on Sunday, April 15 at the London Hilton on Park Lane, where awards will be given out across 12 categories at the star-studded event attended by players, managers, clubs and legends of the game.

The Mitre Goal of the Year will also be voted for on the night, with Graham facing competition from former Pilgrim Olly Lee, of Luton Town; Peterborough United’s Marcus Maddison; Aiden O’Brien, of Millwall; and Sheffield Wednesday’s Adam Reach.

The overall EFL Team of the Season will also be announced on the night of the awards, as will the Player of the Season for each division.

In League One, Blackburn Rovers’ highly-rated attacking midfielder Bradley Dack has scored 16 goals this season to help Rovers into first spot and gain his place on the shortlist.

Dack is joined by another creative midfielder, Wigan Athletic’s Nick Powell, who has been a key figure in his side’s charge for the Championship; the former Manchester United player has 14 goals so far this campaign.

Making up the shortlist is Marriott, who is the leading goalscorer in League One with an impressive 25 goals scored in league competition.
