Work has started to bulldoze Bretonside bus station

There has been minor works that have already taken place, including checking the structural viability of the Exeter Street viaduct, contractors have started moving on to site this week to begin the main bulk of construction.

The official work begins on Monday on the £53m redevelopment at Bretonside.

David Pollock, development director for British Land, which also owns Drake Circus, said: “We are delighted that the transformation of this pivotal part of the city centre can now begin.

"Plymouth City Council has been a proactive partner and we look forward to continuing to work with them on the development’s delivery.

Maclaren Construction has been appointed as the main contractor and enabling works are already underway. The scheme is set to open in autumn 2019.
