Argo will be by far the lowest scorers in L1 this season. Four go down from this division. Wonder who the other three will be?

What I don't understand is if Blissett isn't rated enough to even make the squad when you are playing one up front with no other strikers on the bench, away from home when you're likely to go one down and have to chase the game at some point, WTF is the point in giving him a 2 yr contract??

This isn't a knee jerk, but Adams makes some strange decisions sometimes.

It's quite simple Czarky, Derek doesn't do attacking, especially away from home. Why have any forwards at all ? Just a waste of manpower jocolor

Long old season ahead - maybe - first lesson learned, squad needs strengthening.

Well only three teams scored more than us last season, so your generalisation doesn't really hold sway, Beez.

I do maintain though that whilst broadly being happy with Adams as a manager, he makes odd decisions sometimes. Simple as that really.

He's a counter attack manager, relying on the likes of Carey to pull one out from nowhere. He's no Holloway. Just sit and suffer and be grateful. I quite like the chap, but don't expect a bench full of attackers, it's just not his style.

Listening to the match and it seemed that Argyle were a tad unlucky today. It sounded an ok performance.

On another day ?.

Its going to be a long season for the manager and fans with Jimmy and Si, not giving Adams a realistic budget.

we may aswell get used to losing as we are going to lose again many times this season. More important than ever to sign a striker and if we have to pay then the reluctant one will have to do it as we need a proven goalscorer not some some teenage loanee .

Better than the opening day shocker v Luton last season. Losing Taylor early on wasn't helpful. We screwed up a 2 v the keeper, a certain goal on another day (unfortunately the stream I watched was terrible so can't tell you who the 2 involved were). It was a typical opening day encounter with nerves and mistakes from both sides. After we scored we decided to waste time which was annoying, much better to get into 'um. A long frustrating season ahead but I think we'll be ok.

i still feel staying up is the only objective we need concern ourselves with this season. Whatever happens after that is a fantastic bonus and a platform to build on for the next season where aiming for the playoffs is a more realistic prediction.

Cheers for the précis Beez. I'm not actually sure why I bother forming my own opinion from watching them. I should just come down the allotment with you, dig a few spuds on a Saturday afternoon, then just ask you exactly how it all is. king

You could do worse. It's a simple game, not rocket science. "God" is everywhere, not just at PL2 cat

I see on PASOTI they are adding in that because we tried hard it's an excuse for losing. Also referring to the mighty Peterborough as if they are some kind of team we should be aspring to be.
Amazing how low some set the threshold.

It's not League One. It's division 3 and we used to slum it in this division.

And so it begins all over again. Will they, won't they ?
Win or lose, watching professional football is all about entertainment and oh too short time well spent, not some clamber up Brent Tor to be witness to another coat of paint drying in the vestry.
Is there going to be an opening display next week from the Forza nerde ? Will all ID checks, iris scans and positive vetting be completed in time ? Will Argyle surprise us all and play one up front ?

Pro football is nothing to do with "entertainment" for the majority and never has been. It is entirely about winning and getting results as managers like Ardiles have found out to their cost over the years. Beating Preston 6-4 and losing 7-2 to Bolton didn't seem to do Johnny Hore much good back in the day and it's difficult to recall many messages of support from the faithful during that period of his tenure or much remorse being expressed on his departure. If Argyle have a similar season to last year, then you can bet your bottom dollar that not many would complain about the entertainment value and that would be my own outlook-always preferable to win an awful match 1-0 than losing or drawing cracking games of football. Ideal if they can be combined of course but that would be a rarity in the history of Argyle.
