| Singer Prince has died at the age of 57 at his Paisley Park compound in Minnesota, according to celebrity website TMZ.
The death at Paisley Park in Minnesota, where pop superstar Prince has his recording studios, is being investigated by authorities.
The investigation began on Thursday morning, Carver County chief sheriff's deputy Jason Kamerud told the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
He said officials are withholding information about the identity of the deceased person until next of kin have been notified.

| Once stood next to him peeing in the urinals...
Rather funny as I'm 6' 4'' and he was listed at 5' 2'' (in his high heels).
I also saw the Purple Rain show at the LA Forum. Needless to say... One of the best shows I've seen.
RIP to a Giant.

| Great shame. Victoria Wood and Prince gone on consecutive days, Dapper Laughs and Pitbull still breathing, no justice |

| In the late 80s me and a buddy spent a few weeks travelling around northern Europe. Another mate of mine was in the RAF at the time and was stationed in Teveren. We stopped off for a visit. One of his buddies had a CD he didnt like and gave it to us. Sign o' the times. Only CD we had so we listened to it incessantly.
Prince was a towering genius and totally pwned the 80s.
And much more besides.
He had more talent than... well everybody, really. God knows what that AFKAP crap was about. And he was a Jehovah's Witness.
Which all goes to show something, I guess.
Yet another tragedy.
Sad. |

| Had tickets to see him once, at hyde park possibly (or knebworth?). (twas a long time ago) Only learnt that he's cancelled the concert a week beforehand when I read someone's copy of the Sun newspaper when we were at Filbert Street. Our tickets weren't fully refunded, so I guess i'm going to have to write that debt off now. |

| I didn't particularly like his music, it just wasn't for me. But I can appreciate Genius when I see and hear it and that is what he was. |

| RIP foreshore. Was he a genius? Not so shore about that, did some good work and some very forgettable stuff I think he was more of a presence than anything. |

I think he was. He was a virtuoso on a number of instruments. I don't think his hit and miss recording legacy changes his brilliance as a human. |

| As with a lot of musicians and performers, it isn't until they're gone that you fully realize what a truly iconic figure they were. I never got to see him live but friends that have done, always said his shows were right at the very top when you define a 'performance'.
According to the 'For You' album notes, Prince produced, arranged, composed and played all 27 instruments on the recording.
A musical genius and legendary performer, foreshore. |

| I saw Prince on August 25th 2007 at the 02, quite simply one amazing show he played around 30 odd songs new and old but in truth he could have done 60 quite easily.
A Talent like his only comes around so often and future generations will still be listening to his music. RIP |
