| Has passed away at the age of 84.
One of the great commentators from any sport, and a very fine cricketer too. |

| The measure of the man is that he will as badly missed in England as he will in his native Australia. We have lost a great commentator and we should not forget how good a cricketer he was as well. A marvelous innings that Richie. You will be sadly missed. RIP |

A marvelous innings that Richie. You will be sadly missed. RIP Absolutely. I know times have changed (think Geoff Boycott and his bleddy uncovered pitches) but 250 Test wickets @ 27 is nothing to be sniffed at for a spinner. He was a highly regarded captain too, by all accounts. |

| Very sad news, don't remember him as a player although by all accounts he was very good, without doubt the greatest commentator I've ever heard. RIP |

| Sad day for cricket, Richie passed away today aged 84.Didn't see much of his playing career but by all accounts he was a top class all rounder and he had the statistics to back up that billing. As a commentator he was without doubt one of the very best, ranking with Arlott, Longhurst, Alliss etc and he certainly helped to foster my interest in cricket in the 1970's.Luckily his work is immortalised in commentating on some of the very best cricket matches and series of all time but a very sad loss all the same.
RIP Richie. |

| I'll always remember his last summer on British TV - the 2005 Ashes. When Kasprowicz edged Harmison to Geraint Jones down the legside to give England a 2-run win, did he launch into Mark Nicholas-style hyperbole? Nope. Just said 'Jones!', followed by several seconds of silence. Brilliant. |
