Burnley, currently top of the Championship have an average attendance figure of 12,318 . How do they do it ? Rolling Eyes

Only 3 Championship clubs have a smaller capacity than HP. Those clubs Bournemouth, Doncaster & Yeovil, fill the bottom three positions.

The top 16 or so places are filled by clubs with a relatively recent top flight pedigree or a rich history. Brighton's new stadium has had a terrific effect on 'belief' in that region, with average attendances of almost 27k.

It's worse than that. Even by Lancastrian standards (Blackburn, Accrington etc) Burnley if a f**king sh*thole. It makes Plymouth look like York, so god knows how they attract players of any standard.

Owen Coyle worked miracles to get them in the Prem last time, and Sean Dyche might be doing the same this season. If you are a club of that size and can get hold and keep an excellent manager (example pulled entirely at random: Ian Holloway) then you can make it to the Premiership, although it's pretty much impossible to stay there for any length of time.

The difference is that Plymouth would be more like Hull, Cardiff, Swansea, Reading attendance wise, if we made it and had the stadium to match................. which we haven't.

Never bought the location excuse myself.Good players will go to anywhere the money is right and the ambition is there.Managers like Holloway,Smith and Waiters brought high quality players to the club and reached a certain level before the failings at the top of the club set in.Back in the 1980's there was a spell when some very high class English players suddenly found themselves attracted to playing in Scotland,in spite of the location issues-now why was that,i wonder? May well have been something to do with the shedloads of cash that were available in Scotland at the time.I well remember players like Kevin Gallen and Elliott Ward commenting when they were on loan down here that there was absolutely no reason why the club shouldn't reach the top flight but added the rider that Argyle needed to "show some ambition".Thats the crux of the matter. The implication of the comments of those two players was that Argyle had a reputation within football for not showing ambition and unfortunately you can't say that the doubts implied therein were unfounded.

And now we have to suffer the spectre of those who 'saved the club' and now get to play with it, supporting the debacle that is the HHP development, which will in turn will keep Argyle as parochial also rans, for decades to come.
All for a small decrease in profits for the reluctant one. We could have had a stadium of impact, with room to grow but no, greater short term gain for a businessman was more important.
