| Plymouth Wheel to stop turning in six weeks
THE WHEEL of Plymouth is to stop turning in about six weeks.
The company behind the big wheel on the Hoe today announced the attraction will close in the middle of November.
It will be dismantled and will be shipped to open at a new destination in France.
Owners Freij World Attractions, who took over the wheel in September 2012, said the exact date for the closure had not been decided.
John Lowery, of Wheels Entertainments, the company's UK arm, said: "We are sad to announce that the Wheel of Plymouth based on Plymouth Hoe will close in Mid-November with a date and time yet to be announced once final dismantling and shipping arrangements have been made.
"Since taking over the operation of the wheel in September 2012 the new owners Freij Entertainments have seen a small increase in visitors due to events on the Hoe, offers and much better weather this summer."
The Wheel of Plymouth, which opened in 2011, has had about 45,000 customers so far this year.

| Me and my mate got chucked out of the Highwayman pub at Sourton by Buster the owner because my mate turned the ships wheel that's bolted to the wall and said " come to Devon and see the wheel that really turns," Buster says "out." |

| It's being replaced by the Brent Wheel, it's actually the old ships wheel from the Highwayman which Brent swopped for one of the old lawn mowers from HP, better than no wheel at all I say. |

| I went on the Torquay wheel recently which I guess is similar. It's a great view and was less than £10 for the missus, me and our little boy which I thought was good value.
The London Eye was far better though and we went on at night which gave spectacular views of London all lit up. |
