It's one reason I hardly ever look at the Premier write-ups etc nowadays. And, at the risk of being accused of lacking ambition, it's a good reason for aiming only for the Championship - you get a better class of club there. I wouldn't object to bouncing between the upper Championship & the lower Premier but to go any higher you'd have to sell your soul.

But we haven't got any souls left to sell, we've sold them all.
