| Picklecombe to Kingsands is always a good bet for some shelter in a S or W wind, I find low tides up are best. The are a couple of spots from Mount Edgecumbe round to Picklecombe as well. I'm off up North Devon for a couple of days will pack a rod although the tides are a bastard up there. |

That stretch of coast from St Ives round to Sennen is just fookin majestic. Was sat up by Pendeen lighthouse one day in June and it is just breathtaking. |

I quite often park my van up around Botallack for a night or two like you say that whole piece has a magic of its own quite different from Sennen to Penzance which is much softer, there is some good Bass plugging to had around all of it tbf. The Star in st Just is a good boozer the rest of them on the whole have been socially cleansed. |

| Had 3 mackerel this afternoon, all under a pound. Sea was boiling with baitfish for the first hour or so then it died down, small shoal of gar swam across right in front of me, one knocked my lure but missed the hook. Several other bites missed, no bass but an enjoyable 2 1/2 hours. |

| Sounds swish, I had a few Mackerel this year, not enough. I had a couple of wee Bass on squid in Southampton Docks yesterday. |

| Went out on a charter boat out of Cawsands yesterday with some of me mates, sea was like a millpond and we were all in t shirts and shorts, even out the Eddystone. Caught some decent Whiting along the drop off, had a couple that must have gone 2.5lbs and a few mackerel, I took about seven home. I had a couple of pound sized pouting but slipped them back. Couple of the lads were pulling up some pretty little Gurnard and we were all pulling Pollock out at the stone up to about five pounds. Boat next to us anchored over the reef just inside of the light and were pulling up lots of Conger to about twenty pounds on flappers not my thing at all but there was sport to be had, good to see them returning them rather than dumping them off the quay like they used to. I had fried mackerel, brown bread and butter and some new potatoes for supper last night and I just recieved ten out of ten scores from the family for my fish sandwiches we had for lunch, mackerel goujons cooked in tempura batter in a roll with a sauce I made from Mayo, shallot, gherkin, parsley and lime juice with a bit of seasoning. Absolutely awesome. Another thing of note was that we saw several swallows flying in over the water their migration is actually quite gradual but lovely to see them making landfall after their epic journey. They must have covered 150 miles plus unless they come over Biscay which would be massive. |

| Had a nice bit of sport in the gullies off Rame earlier in the week in the blazing sunshine. Half a dozen wrasse, the biggest between 3&4 lb I reckon. Bass rod & a spinning reel so the rod was bent right over bringing the bigger ones in. Tried spinning to see if there were any bass about, but no joy. Great day though |

Sounds good, what did you catch the wrasse with? I've only managed to get out once so far, just can't seem to find the time at the mo, whenever the tides are right I seem to have something on. Itching to get out and about |

| I've been out a couple of times since the boat trip to no avail, will get out this week foreshore. There are some massive Wrasse about in the 7lb range I always would see them when I spearfished off Rame/Queeners but never caught them, big old wily things they really are a beautiful fish especially viewed from underwater. That's a nice fish Seadog, I use those lures as well, they also do a dark one very lifelike. I see loads of people on the SW fishing forum lure fishing at night now. |
