Two players in the MK Dons squad have tested positive for the virus and, as a result, will not feature in Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup tie against Stevenage along with several others who are unavailable in line with Government and EFL guidelines.

“It’s been a slightly disrupted week,” Head Coach Liam Manning said in his pre-match press conference ahead of this weekend’s game.

“We had two positive Covid-19 tests after our trip to Crewe so we’ve had to follow some strict protocols. We have quite a few in isolation off the back of it and we’ve gone back to measures that we were under a while ago to make sure nothing spreads.

“The health and wellbeing of people is most important and the medical guys have done a terrific job and we’ve had no further positive Covid cases since them two - huge credit to our medical staff and our players.

“We’ve got numerous players missing but when you go through periods like this, as this group as shown before, it can bring you together. It also gives other people opportunities and I’m really excited to see what they can do.

“When I look at the starting line-up going out tomorrow, I’m genuinely excited by it - it shows the depth and quality of the squad. Players have to be ready when they get their opportunity – that’s what is exciting me most. Let’s see how they do!”

Manning added: “It’s a reminder that Covid-19 is still here. It’s a case of being sensible and using common sense. We’ve stuck to the rules all season but through these winter months it’s crept back in. I am hopeful that, moving forward, we’ll be okay.”

I blame Boris. Seriously though I am amazed that the league has hardly been disrupted at all by Covid this season.

Hang on a sec, does this mean that a proportion of the MK squad aren't vaccinated then. Surely the only lads not available are the ones that have given positive tests or I am getting this completely wrong.

Quite frankly if a club loses a swathe of players through self-isolation because they're unvaccinated it's their own damn fault and and they should have to play with what they've got left.

Vaccination doesn't prevent you getting covid.
If you have had contact then isolation should occur regardless of the experimental jab but the government have decided to do it differently

In your highly qualified professional opinion, what will it take for these vaccines to be deemed not "experimental"?

I take it you have not been vaccinated?
