Derby County have entered administration

Derby County have entered administration and been deducted 12 points by the English Football League.

The Championship club announced their intention to call in administrators on Friday, with owner Mel Morris saying the coronavirus pandemic had cost them about £20m in lost revenue.

Morris has spent the past two days talking to players and staff, whose jobs are now uncertain.

Wayne Rooney's Rams drop to the foot of the table, on minus two points.

Andrew Hosking, Carl Jackson and Andrew Andronikou, managing directors at business advisory firm Quantuma, have been appointed joint administrators.

Derby County have been deducted a further nine points after admitting breaches of English Football League accounting rules.

The Championship club, docked 12 points for entering administration in September, have agreed to the dismissal of their appeal against that decision.
The latest penalty leaves Wayne Rooney's side on -3 points - 18 points from safety at the foot of the table.

It means the Rams are almost certain to be relegated to League One.

For me, one of the finest football chants ever.

Looking very dodgy for them now. When I first started becoming aware of league football via my primary school subuteo league Derby were top of the pile. Mental how the football landscape has changed in fifty years, Derby, Notts County, Sheffield Wednesday, Leeds were all big hitters back then.

Its looking bleak but as we all know as we put up with admin for a whole year that bleak situations can end..

Wayne Rooney and his staff n players are doing an amazing job not only to overcome the points deduction to be off the bottom of the table and still in with a very slim chance of staying up!!!!!

i hope Derby dont end up with their version of the reluctant one or worse mike ashley.

I think they’ll be fine. Clubs of that size and stature always find a way out.

he'd be wise to avoid going there for a while at all cost at this stage of his career and steadly build up his ability in management. Frank Lampard made the mistake of taking the chelsea job to soon and is struggling to get back into managment despite being quite good at Derby and imo did a great job first season with the youth and transfer embargo before the powers that be ruined it the following season by flooding the squad with new players that didnt workout for him.
