MK Dons profit from an under-hit back pass from Argyle skipper Scott Wootton and Matt Macey cannot get to the ball as David Wheeler nips in and makes it 3-0 in the 29th minute.

That is three goals in five minutes for MK Dons, with Wheeler getting two of them.

Argyle waste a good chance to reduce the deficit in the 32nd minute when a cross from Ryan Law is nodded down by Luke Jephcott and Dan Rooney volleys over the bar from six yards.

It looks like an injury blow for Argyle with Conor Grant being helped to the dressing rooms. The midfielder fell to the ground in pain after putting in a left-wing cross, which Luke Jephcott could not quite get on the end of.

Argyle have made a flurry of substitutions, possibly with the news that tonight’s South West Peninsula League game against Godolphin Atlantic has been postponed.

One of the changes has seen Michael Cooper take over in goal from Matt Macey.

The other substitutions are as follows: Lionel Ainsworth for the injured Conor Grant, Tafari Moore for Joe Riley, Alex Fletcher for Ryan Taylor and Alex Battle for Paul Anderson.

It was a torrid afternoon for Plymouth Argyle as they were thumped 5-0 by MK Dons in their top-of-the-table Central League South clash at Home Park on Tuesday afternoon.

The Pilgrims conceded three goals in a five crazy, mistake-filled minutes during the first half and there was no way back for them after that.

The visitors went on to score two goals late on in the match, while Argyle lost midfielder Conor Grant to a leg injury.

Not only did the result end Argyle's seven-match unbeaten record in the Central League South this season, it has opened the way for the Dons to pip them to the title.

The second-placed Dons trail table-topping Argyle by three points but have played one game less and have a better goal difference too.

A strong Argyle side, made up entirely of professionals, made a decent enough start to the game.

However, Robbie Simpson put the Dons ahead from the penalty spot in the 24th minute after a foul on former Exeter City striker David Wheeler by goalkeeper Matt Macey.

Wheeler made it 2-0 a couple of minutes later when he tapped into an empty net after Macey came to collect the ball but was beaten to it by Simpson.

Wheeler put the Dons further ahead in the 29th minute when he latched onto an under-hit back pass by Argyle skipper Scott Wootton and slotted past Macey.

Argyle used all five of the substitutes in the second half - as allowed in the Central League - with the injured Grant replaced by Lionel Ainsworth.

Wheeler completed his hat-trick in the 85th minute before Stephen Walker wrapped up the emphatic win for the Dons with virtually the last kick of the match.
