Bradford have appointed "number one target" Simon Grayson as the club's new manager following the sacking of Stuart McCall.

Grayson, who was reportedly a target for Barnsley, returns to management after he was sacked by Sunderland in October with Bradford the sixth club of his managerial career.

The stadium DJ respectfully told Bradford City’s owners what they could do with their job when they invited him in to explain himself after he had played Road to Nowhere over the PA system following the defeat by Wimbledon two weeks ago.

‘I won’t be going back,’ said Stephen Midgeley. ‘I don’t recognise this club.’

The music was decidedly on message before Saturday’s match: Yazz’s The Only Way is Up. That message felt a little ambitious, particularly when the team squandered what looked like a certain winner by Shay McCartan in the 89th minute, to be held 2-2 by Bury, League One’s bottom club.
