TORQUAY UNITED: Gulls pull off 'historic' friendly win against Tony Pulis' West Bromwich Albion
Torquay done what we cold not do.

TORQUAY UNITED pulled off one of the best pre-season results in their history at rain-soaked Plainmoor when they beat Premiership big boys West Bromwich Albion 2-1 in a gutsy, riveting friendly.

After goalless first half, in which the Baggies failed to convert their superior possession, it was trialist left-back Callum Hall who made a spectacular breakthrough six minutes after the restart.

Hall, who had played for Bath City in Saturday's 4-4 draw with the Gulls, beat England goalkeeper Ben Foster from 25 yards.

And seven minutes later, substitute striker Brett Williams made it 2-0 with a brilliant solo turn, run and shot which completely did for Foster again.

Albion manager Tony Pulis won't forget his 2016 South West tour in a hurry, for his side had been held 0-0 at Home Park on Saturday.

Attendance: 3,017 (653 away fans)
