First Great Western told Plymouth passengers their train was delayed because someone 'couldn't bebothered to live any more'.

Staff used the excuse to describe a fatality on the line as a train was delayed coming to Plymouth.

Passenger Esmee Phillips, 21, has complained to First Great Western about the loudspeaker announcement describing it as "shocking and callous".

She said people were left "completely open-mouthed" by the announcement

What about the mental health of the poor drivers who have to witness it, can't be easy to get out of your mind.

It's a fair pont insensitively made. Were it not for one we wouldn't need to worry about the other, would we?

And the poor bastards who have to clear it up.

Yeah right, blame the trains and the drivers, not the people who jump in front of them.

No doubt to blame for all mental illness in the first place...

Mental health care is patchy, at best, and woefully under-resourced so now you mention it...

Lots of people need help and don't get it. Some of them end up under a train. That in turn impacts directly on a few others and indirectly on many more.

This fatality is a tragedy for many people and a little thought on the part of that station announcer would have stopped an awful event from becoming worse than it needs to be.

For one person a horrific resolution has been found but for many others their issues are about to start. I hope they get the support they need to cope with it all.

Absolutely spot-on Sir F.
I have, sadly and unfortunately, got that tee shirt and the devastation lasts a long time even with maximum support.

Many varying statistics worldwide on this subject suggests that.....

1 in 4 of us will suffer some form of mental health each year.

Hard figure to prove...but it is suggested that 50% of us will in our lifetime suffer some form of mental health illness.

If you use this place as a gauge for the rest of the world that is a wild underestimate foreshore.

These figures are widely quoted with good reason. There has never been any credible indication that they are inaccurate.
