Reuben: "I'll Be Here For The Season

REUBEN Reid’s scoring form is both a joy and a worry to the Green Army.
The Argyle number nine took his tally to the season to 13 with a double in the 3-0 Sky Bet League 2 victory over Dagenham & Redbridge at Home Park, as well as laying on the other goal for namesake Bobby. Happiness.

However, with the January transfer window looming large, the concern is that other clubs in need of such a prolific scorer might cast more than admiring glances towards the South West.

Well, let us put you mind at rest. Actually, let Reuben himself put your mind at rest.

He is enjoying his football, and loving life at Home Park in a united, talented, dressing-room. However, underlying all this personal pleasure is loyalty towards John Sheridan, under whose guidance he has reignited a career that had often promised much as young buck, but had plateaued in his mid-20s.

He said: “The manager here has given me – I won’t say a new lease of life, because it could have happened elsewhere – but he has probably been the main factor why I have been able to get that consistency.


“He’s backed me in times when I wasn’t so hot, when no-one’s talking about you. All of a sudden, people are talking about you. I’ve got a lot of time for him for doing that. When I first came back to the club 24 months ago, it was a struggle for a lot of the players, myself included. I got a lot of criticism.

“If I wasn’t doing well, he wouldn’t play me of course, but he hasn’t been that [type of] manager where, if I have played a bad game then I’d be been out and you have got to start again. He kept chucking me in, even in times when I wasn’t so sharp. Even though I was contributing to the team, the goals weren’t coming so freely.

“If players have the backing of the manager, confidence can make you achieve good things.”

And it was all Holloway's fault that Buzsacky, Halmosi, Ebanks-Blake, Norris, Gosling etc etc all left at a similar time - it was nothing to do with fattening the books to con the Japanese into paying way over the odds for a minority share-holding.

That should be the minimum fee offered before the club start accepting bids. Anything lower should be although it probably wont be rejected out right.

If another club that we cant compete with, i rekon thats about eighty english clubs, made rubes an offer he'd be gone! anything over a hundred grand and brent would accept. Hourihane went for peanuts and so would Reuben.
