It won't, they will just bring out more insane ways of banning smoking wherever and  whenever they feel the need. 

I am still peeved at the smoking ban on all pubs. I did read sometime ago that some bars in Holland and New York have relaxed the ban and now permit smoking.

I don't know about Holland, I have only passed through it a couple of times, never actually stayed there, but NYC I have been quite a few times and it's hit and miss. Some bars and the immediate areas outside, the no smoking is strictly enforced. Go to a few blues bars down Chelsea village or Soho and the smoke is like pea-soup when you step inside.

I found the same in Vegas. Don't go in the casinos if you don't like ciggy smoke. My eye were red and like piss-holes in the snow after a couple of hours inside.

I the States over 21 bars only you can smoke

I walked out of a few restaurants in Spain because people were smoking.

Spanish love a fag, in Portugal it's almost compulsory to smoke.

Quite. They love a petrol station too. It's quite a refreshing change from Plymouth where about 80% of the cities stations have closed in the last 20 years. Drive in to a lot of Spanish villages and it seems like you have about 4 or 5 petrol stations to choose from.

It's the same in Austria too. Bizarrely the non-smoking sections in bars and pubs tend to be upstairs.
