Very difficult to see how you can have it both ways on this one.Seems to me as if you can either blame Brent for not providing adequate funding [who knows what the departure of Hourihane did for the morale and motivation among both playing and coaching staff] or you blame Sheridan for being a crap manager. As has been pointed out before,Sheridan's record stands up pretty well-he was not "lethargic and unmotivating" when Chesterfield won this division and the JPT or indeed when he pulled Argyle out of the cart the season before last or took us into the play offs, albeit briefly, last season. My mind often wanders back to what might have been if a decent replacement had been signed when Alessandra was injured after Argyle beat Chesterfield last season-do you really think that Tope and whoever the other guy was were really Sheridan's first choice signings? I would doubt it very much. This is a very important issue-it has been noticeable over the past few weeks that a lot of sniping at Sheridan has been going on from some of the most ardent pro Brent acolytes on PASOTI and from Errington in the Herald.Wouldn't surprise me at all if there was a Wotton for manager campaign on the way-"'e bleeds green,'e do." At least he'd be cheap i suppose.Disastrous, but cheap.
