Does anybody else find it embarrassing that spineless woeful player is our captain? All he does is turn, pass to Branston, hoof, ball goes back to opposition keeper. He has no ability to drive the players on and when we attack he sits on the half way line, then when the ball breaks to the 30 yard area there is nobody waiting and it gives the oppo the chance to break.

Wotton should be in the team, and be captain. If not, just give it to Jake Cole.

So your second plan is to give it to someone who is only in the team because of an injury. It would strike me therefore that in your opinion the position of captain is not that influential..? If so then why the thread..?

Imo he should be our first choice keeper always.

And no, it is influential, a player with heart, passion and drive should have the armband.

Wrong.

A player with heart and passion will always have heart and passion - being captain doesn't change that. The captain should be an influential player who the players look up to but keeps a clear head in emotional situations enabling him to keep a check on his team mates and yet negotiate with the referee when required.

That may not be our current captain but I don't know too many other candidates.

Wotton, Cole, Feeney. The only experienced (and with argyle) players at the club who have some passion.

We won't agree Pitbull but as I say passion is not a suitable qualification for captain. Passionate footballers will always be passionate. Look up Franz Beckenbauer and Bobby Moore. Both captains who didn't have to punch their chests to show that they cared.

No way I'm having that Hourihane doesn't have passion.

Remember the corner in Block 6 corner first half? They took a quick short corner and EVERYONE else switched off. Hourihane on the over hand bounded over to press them and got it out for another corner-before bollocking everyone else as he had every right to do. He was one of the better ones today. Pressed their midfield persistently and if only the other attackers had shown for him then he could have created more. The wide men, the defenders and the strikers were the biggest problems today-all inadequate. I felt sorry for Cox and Hourihane as they were the only ones bright enough to get stuff moving.
