And to add to this, 'media outlets' in the US published his Facebook details and plastered his picture all over their coverage...

...the problem being that this person simply shares the same name as the person who is now lying dead inside the school.

The Ryan Lanza who didn't shoot anybody today has been posting this on his Facebook profile.

Imagine how much money this guy is going to be paid when he takes them all to court.

You can just imagine some dumb ass recognising him as he innocently goes home and shoots him dead thinking they're John Wayne and will be a national hero.

So was it someone else with the same name or just total wrong info?

It's the same name and age. News reports are in now though that it wasn't Ryan Lanza but his brother Adam Lanza and that Ryan is in custody (probably to protect him from being lynched). On the BBC News channel earlier, an American journalist blurted out Ryan Lanza's name and the BBC newsreader spoke over her while she did it as the BBC don't release news stories based upon rumour - unlike the US.

It looks like they got the right family now but the wrong son - it was apparently this chap's brother. They reported that the parents had both been shot yesterday but now, it's only the Mother who was shot dead by her own son. The media is getting more and more like Twitter.

There's an argument in the US for teachers to carry guns so they can defend their students if this happens again.

I await the usual outrage from all over the US that it is the fault of the following people/things:

1/ A lack of belief in God
2/ Heavy metal music/possibly Marilyn Manson
3/ Videogames (that's already being done)
4/ The internet

Funny how they never seem to blame either guns or the fact that US society isn't the lovely white picket fence, apple pie and the stars and stripes on a flagpole place that middle class, white, God fearing Americans are desperate to believe in.

Michael Moore did a great expose on the gun thing over there, and the difference in culture between the USA and Canada, both of whom have a ludicrous love affair with the gun, and yet Canada has a tiny problem of violence compared to the States. The only answer he could come up with ? Deep rooted cultural FEAR and a cultural stereotyping instilled by the USA political and media machine... it's just in them... deep. Why such a marked difference in Canada with almost the same gun controls

I hate the way the BBC have reported it, and probably the rest of the worlds media, where they have almost drawn up a league table of worst mass shootings. Almost giving the next nutter a figure to aim for to be top of the pile.

Stories need reporting and I can understand them drawing comparisons with other similar tragedies, but do it in the contents of the main story instead of an attention grabbing section where the deaths of 13 people is almost shown to be a failure to beat the record.

I saw that program it was very good television, I think the difference between the two countries was down to the daily mail type hysteria that is fed to us all, be afraid of black people, young people, homeless people, jobless people, Muslims ect. Ect. People in Canada weren't worried about any of it and most of them left their doors open whilst that were at home or not. We are fed the same bullshit and as a result you have the same paranoia, mix that with the gun culture and it's a nightmare.

What I found most astonishing is that they were actually interviewing the feckin kids at the school gates, who'd just been subjected to the trauma.

Journalists need feckin castrating when they behave like this. They were hoping for an OJ type car chase just to put the cherry on the icing on the cake.

Rolling 24 hour news is a voracious beast and anything goes as long as the cameras can be there. It's a personal beef that many ships sink and seamen are lost each year and that barely rates a mention (11 were killed last week in a collision in the North Sea) but if the cameras can't get there it ain't newsworthy enough.
